Review summary

During these pandemic times, we could not have felt safer in a service driven environment. Our needs were always met with smiles and eager to please staff. The beautiful ship was spotless and every effort was made to keep it that way by their crew.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The service was excellent. The food was fine. We did not expect 18% gratuity at complimentary venues

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We enjoyed the scenery and ports but did not play the games on board. We did enjoy the NorthStar and IFLY experience.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We hoped for professional shows but there were few. We did appreciate the social distancing applied

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We loved the smiles and friendly service in all areas of the ship. The ship’s employees could not have been better. They aimed to follow the rules and meet all our needs even in a pandemic environment. They all receive Excellent rating.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We felt safe because all areas of the ship were clean. Our room was cleaned twice a day. There was much detail in how the staff kept the surfaces spotless and germ free.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our balcony cabin was nice, clean, and very comfortable. We enjoyed watching Alaska go by from our room balcony and slept very well. Our room needs were met by a extremely pleasant and qualified staff member. ♥️

Ship tip

Study the ship layout prior to boarding to get familiar with this very large ship and enjoy all activities

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

4 out of 5
We only embarked and disembarked in this city. We did not explore due to Covid

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
It was cloudy most of the time but the scenery was still beautiful

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
The whale watching boat tour and bus trip to glacier was nice

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
The train trip was short because of a situation on the tracks higher in elevation. There were pretty views and interesting narration along the short trip.

Sitka, Alaska

4 out of 5
We visited the bears and the rapture centers.

CRUISE ENDICOTT ARM & DAWES GLACIER

5 out of 5
Having Ovation of the Seas cruise up the Arm as far as it could to Dawes Glacier was such a treat. Then the ship did a 360 degree turn around so everyone could get full views of this magnificent scenery was spectacular. What marvelous technology and expertise this ship has. We loved all the beautiful views we saw here.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The ship’s crew handled the disembarkation very well and leaving the ship was orderly and pleasant. We would recommend this cruise experience for families and couples of all ages.

Food is free, the gratuities were for drinks, I would presume??

Can you explain about 18% gratuity you were charged at complimentary venues? What amount did they base the charge on if there was no charge? Thank you for the review & glad you had a great time!
