Review summary

this was a wonderful experience on a beautiful ship to a breathtakingly amazing place! I expect it to be a once in a lifetime / bucket list cruise. We just loved it! Now... back to reality.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We've sailed out of Port Everglades (Ft. Lauderdale), and Orlando (Cape Canaveral) both we felt were pretty smooth,,,, we were concerned, because we've read reviews that Seattle was not very good. Granted it was not as sleek and modern as the other ports, but it was far smoother than any other cruise port we've gone out of - about 10 other cruises.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
the ship (Ovation of the seas) is beautiful, clean and modern. We ate dinner every night (except one specialty dinner) in Silk (main dining) the food and service was super great! extremely attentive - we had 9 people in our group, and not once that I can remember did anyone have any complaints, We had dinner once in Wonderland - it was worth it just for the experience... really fun. The food is ultra modern - not your basic steak house or Italian restaurant. You go for the experience - not necessarily the food. Buffets are good - generally busy, but we expect that, the food was hot and tasty, and a great variety everyday. several other venues - pizza is a yummy snack, Two 70 Cafe has excellent sandwiches, salads had breakfast and lunch there a few times (What a view!) the promenade is open 24 hours with good sandwiches and snacks.

Onboard Activities

SOOO busy - long lines. We did get on the bumper cars and the North star. the wait was more than an hour for each. I wanted to do the i-fly parachute experience, but it was totally booked - I didn't think you could make reservations (couldn't do it on the RC website before the trip) Loved the Solarium's multi tiered pool and several hot tubs.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
we went to several shows - always high quality. Paul at the piano in the schooner bar was lots of fun, and the headliner was a comedian / juggler. I enjoyed Pixels in the Two 70.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
the one thing that I will say, is that Royal Caribbean must have an Excellent training program... the staff is fantastic - no comparison to other cruise lines. it's what keeps us going back!

Ship Quality

beautiful!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
well planned out - closets on both sides of the bed, more storage space than we needed.
