Currently cruising on the Oosterdam on the 12-day Adriatic Sea cruise. When we boarded in Trieste, Italy on 7/15/23, Holland America had our bags loaded onto another company’s cruise ship. How is that even possible?? When they were finally able to locate where our luggage had gone, they told us to buy what we needed and to get ourselves “comfortable” and that we would of course be reimbursed. They’ve now told us that each guest will only be reimbursed $50…? When we were shocked by this amount, Eduardo (the Guest Director) shrugged his shoulders said “fine- if you don’t want it, don’t take it.” Who talks like that when the company itself has admitted fault? It’s been 6 days and we STILL do not have any of our luggage. We’ve asked to put our communication and terms discussed in writing because of the lack of accountability and they have refused to do so. This request did however trigger a demand letter for payment in full for all charges incurred onboard up to that point. This has been a cruise from hell. We’ve been working with the Front Desk Manager and Guest Director primarily. Does anyone have advice on how to actually obtain compensation or address this issue?? How hard is it to ship luggage from one port to another? Like seriously how hard can this be?? Do we stay here onboard racking up charges and hoping that our luggage will get to us before the end of the cruise? Or do we call our losses and go home now, hoping Holland America sends our luggage to our home? Has anyone been in this situation and have any insight?? TIA

We booked the cruise as we were looking for an easy get away. We live about 25 miles from San Diego port so made it very easy. Nice not to have to get on a plane. Relaxing

it was great we has amazing time it was our first cruise and my wonderful husband took me on it for our 34 wedding anniversary I will go again on Holland American line

This was my bucketlist cruise and met all my expectations and more. It was an older crowd and people were really nice. I was a solo traveler and people really were nice about including me and inviting me to do things with them. Not alot of entertainment but what they did have was great. It was my most relaxing cruise thus far. If I had any complaints it would be that the buffet was the same everyday but food was good. And disembarkation for ports were extremely unorganized.

Our cruise was not horrible, it was simply uneventful. There is a total lack of entertainment compared to Princess, and the shows were terrible. The food was amazing! My family doesn't typically like Buffets but this buffet was great. The ship is old, but well maintained. The staff is friendly. Holland America is definitely a traditional style of cruising. My family took a risk when we chose Holland. If we cruise with them again it will be on a newer ship.

Had a great time on the Mediterranean romance cruise. Was disappointed though that the ship didn't have a laundrette like the Zaandam. My fault for not looking at the ships diagram thoughly cause packed thinking we could do our own laundry. Overall very nice ship and crew. Will only book Holland American cruises.

Beautiful ship very clean and nice and relaxed crew. We were probably thr youngest couple on the cruise. Bed was horrible and not enough activities or restaurants. I think for the amount of days everyone was 60+. Def. A lesson learned. We are in our early 30s

I loved the update the Oosterdam got this year! USB ports and extra outlets were great. The whole ship seemed new. We will take another cruise on this ship.

Great 3 generation cruise Perfect weather. Fantastic scenery. Interesting ports. calm waters. Lots of wildlife and great excursions. Food options were plentiful utilized the beverage packages and perks. Good sized ship.
