Review summary

This was a great cruise from start to finish. The ports it visited are really good ports. The food was excellent and the service we had was very good. Everything went very smoothly and we were really sorry to have the week end.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We only had dinner in the main dining room. We ate lunch and breakfast in the buffet and had no complaints about either.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I very much enjoyed the two lectures given by one of the Mexican Ambassadors on the ship. There were cooking demos by America's Test Kitchen and they were good. There were Windows 10 classes. I didn't go to those because I'd been to them on a previous cruise. There were dance classes by two Mexican dancers who also put on several shows by one of the two pools. I used the fitness center and the equipment was good.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I can only comment on the two shows I went to, one by the singers and dancers that was very well done and the other by a comedian that was enjoyable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters were very good and so was our room steward. I visited the front desk twice and had a very short wait and the people who helped me were friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

Beautiful ship. Tasteful elegance

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The beds were comfortable and there was a minibar that I used for keeping the soda that I brought aboard. I give it four stars since it would have been nice to have a few drawers. However, we were able to find room for all of our stuff and if there were drawers I wouldn't have had the minibar. So really, I guess I'd have to rate it 4 1/2 stars rather than just four.

Ports of call

San Diego, California

My husband, our son, his wife and their 3 kids all wished we'd have come a day early to explore San Diego. We much prefer sailing from San Diego rather than Los Angeles because the airport is so close by and so a taxi from one to the other is fast and inexpensive.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We did an excursion, but wished we'd have just gone with our relatives on a water taxi to see the rocks at Lands End and then gone to Lover's Beach. Instead we went on a snorkeling excursion. This would have been fun had the weather not been chilly. The last forecast we'd seen had the temperature for that day at 81 degrees. Instead it was 71 degrees and overcast and the water was very cold. The rest of our group really enjoyed this port. We've been there before and enjoyed it.

Mazatlan, Mexico

We did this port on our own and had a great time. We went to the aquarium and thoroughly enjoyed it, then took a taxi to shop.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We booked an excursion to Los Veranos zipline on the internet. I went with our son and his family and had a great time. It's the best zipline of the four I've been on. Our son and his family also used the small waterslides into the river, which was warm and we ate lunch there. The food was excellent and reasonable. We also got to feed monkeys. We took their boat to their facility, which made it a shorter trip, and saw whales on the way back. We've been to Puerto Vallarta several times previously and it's a great port.
