7 Night Alaska Hubbard Glacier (Seattle Roundtrip)

Sail date: May 21, 2017

Ship: Oosterdam

Cabin type: Oceanview

Cabin number: 1106

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Review summary

We booked a cabin with "ocean view" that looked into the center bottom of a life boat.  Had to pay considerable more to actually get an "ocean view".  Be aware you get charged $13.50 per person per day to have a cabin and they charge $3.95 + tax to have a bottle of drinking water in your cabin.  Staff was good but management was not.  Food was OK and scenery was great.  Will use a different Cruise Line next time.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Some call it a "hotel service charge" while other call it "tips", but the fact is that all cruise lines add this (or higher) to your bill. Surprising that the OP mentions this, but claims to have 7+ cruise experience.

You had an obstructed view cabin which is always divulged ahead of time. Also the charges you mentioned is with every cruise line except the super deluxe all inclusive ships.

I enjoyed Hal also.

HAL has the best food! We won't sail on anyone else. Water is free in the Lido.

All cruises charge a daily gratuity and water in a bottle is rarely free.

You should've researched cabin location. most of the time it will say obstructed or partially obstructed view. the per day charge is for the house keeping staff. You only get charged for the water if you drink it
