Review summary

We had such a wonderful time on our cruise and were so impressed by the Oosterdam. We never felt like it was crowded and often wondered where everyone had gone! There are so many public areas and things going on in so many of them that the crowds were dispersed throughout. The onboard activities seemed to be nonstop and the shore excursions were very well organized. We thought Holland America did a fabulous job.

For the most part, we liked the food but if there was a weak spot it would be the desserts. But that may be a good thing!

The level of talent on the Oosterdam was outstanding and everything was so well organized. There seemed to be something for everyone.

Service and Staff

Our cruise director and his staff were outstanding and such nice people. Our cabin steward was was helpful and always ready to fill any request. Everyone we dealt with was pleasant.

We had a deluxe verandah suite and it was worth every cent. Having access to the Neptune Lounge was such a convenience, too.

The canopy adventure was a terrific shore excursion. It was so much fun and the guides were very experienced and obviously enjoyed their jobs.

We did the birdwatching and estuary trip which was very interesting. The only down side was the long tram ride to the restaurant at the beach. However, our guide was very informative and entertaining.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We took the snorkeling trip and it was a fun trip however, it wasn't as good as one we took in Cancun. The water was much colder and the variety of fish didn't compare. The snorkeling instructions weren't as good, either, but it didn't matter if you had snorkeled before. But the people running it were very friendly and fun.

Pros: We thought the entire crew and staff were terrific. The entertainment was outstanding and the cruise director and his staff were everywhere.

Cons: The poolside barbecue they had one night.

Recommends Oosterdam? Yes!
