I really liked the ports visited. Went to Pompeii when in Naples, the Acropolis in Athens, toured Ephesus in Turkey, and did tours of Mykanos, Santorini and Crete. The ship was good, but the pools and hot tubs were crowded. The bands were mediocre and the dance floors were crowded (when people were dancing). The trick was to find bands like the Brass Band that most people only listened to, then the dance floor was almost empty.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Great. Relatively quick to board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The main dining room food was good but repetitive. I thought there would be more focus on foods of the countries we visited. Menu was the same as the last Royal Caribbean cruise, but no lobster tail on the menu unless you bought one. The Windjammer buffer was better than the last Royal Caribbean ship I was on, but not as good and the Norwegian and Princess ships I sailed on.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There were few activities for seniors. The rock climbing wall and flow rider were intended for younger audiences. No water slides. The pools were small and crowded, particularly the pool in the solarium because the weather on deck was in the 60s on the way back.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The bands were not as good as our previous Royal Caribbean cruise. The Dukes played some good pop music, but the latin band only played very fast music. The dance floors were small and crowded. They played the same show in the Two70 lounge all cruise, but the shows in the theater were pretty good and there was always seating available.
Children's Programs
No children in my party.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service was good, about the same as our last several cruises. We had a good assistant waiter who always brought me my drinks without asking.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship design and layout was good.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The room was clean and comfortable. Had plenty of room for the two of us. The weather was pleasant, so we enjoyed relaxing on the balcony.
Ship tip
Book excursions in the visited ports. We really enjoyed the excursions. The Mykanos and Santorini excursions sold out early, however we were able to book via Viator at a lower price. In Mykanos, they picked us up right at the ship pier.
Interesting how your entire review was about the ship and very little wrt the wonderful ports visited. I suppose everyone has different reasons and expectations when embarking on a cruise.
