Review summary

Great honeymoon cruise. Clean fun but ate way too much haha. I would recommend private tours of each city. We had a great experience using our guides from Viator.

standard balcony was the perfect size for two

Ship tip

I would hope in the future to have a balcony room above the 6th floor as the view is partially obstructed (we were on the aft side of ship). We could not take any photos from our balcony that didn't have some type of obstruction that impacted the photo

We stayed in Rome one night post cruise and toured through Viator. We needed three days in Rome to truly capture the beauty and history of this awesome welcoming city. We had to plan this whole trip around our work schedule so we ended up in Rome on the first Sunday of the month. There are many places in Vatican City that are closed on Sunday and I think that Sunday has free admission at many of the historical sites so the lines were 3 hours or more to get inside. We elected to see some of these places from the outside. We did tour the inside of St Peter's and it was absolutely beautiful-an emotional experience. I did not think we were going to get to go inside and wore shorts for our hot day of touring (Note: my shorts were Bermuda length just above the knee) so I had to cover my legs with a provided wrap to enter.

Santorini, Greece

The city is beautiful, especially when you get away from the crowds. We had a beautiful dinner overlooking the sea. I believe it would be a better place to visit independent of a cruise as it is a lot of people (4 cruise ships that came in at the same day as us) to squeeze into this small paradise. It can't be helped, but the ability to get to the city from the ship is quite a time consuming process. We did not get up early to get our tender tickets so we had to wait onboard for 3 hours for our tender after the ship was cleared for tendering then another 2 hours in line for a gondola to get up to the city. We missed the famous sunset views as we wanted to get a head start on the gondola lines to avoid another 2 to 3 hour wait. The sunset was beautiful from the ship however.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

We booked a private tour through Viator. It was wonderful. I saw many large groups herded through Ephesus with headsets on and our experience had to be so much better-it was lovely and personal and our tour guide was the best. Avoid the rug factories/educational center Turkish dinner if you can. The food and setting was beautiful, it was a great experience to see how the silk threads are created and the rugs are hand woven, but then there is the sales pitch to sit through and although it is not high pressure, it was unexpected and put a damper on the rest of the experience.

Mykonos, Greece

Beautiful place, too many people packed in too small a place. I do not feel like we got to experience the location adequately. We were fortunate that our ship was able to dock. There were two other ships that had to tender in.

We took a taxi to Pompeii and self toured. Take water with you. There are no vendors or bathrooms inside.
