Review summary

An amazing cruise and itinerary. We made it with perfect weather but late May can still be rainy. I would avoid this trip mid summer.

Embarkation

Hardly any wait at all and the staff were friendly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The ship had all the standard fair of the new ship classes to include wonderland (scaled down) and the updated Giovanni’s (more in the style of Jamie’s Italian). Main dining room wasn’t our favorite but the staff was top notch as always. If you have never done wonderland I would wait and do it on an Oasis class ship. Costal Kitchen was a highlight given the views on this itinerary.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
This ship had everything from bumper cars to trivia from every decade. The adults only area pool and hot tub layout is leaps and bounds better than on Harmony (which has that weird splash pad that none uses) and some other oasis class ships.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There were plenty of shoes and special guests. The book was excellent (although I am not smart enough to understand what was going on) and the guest entertainment consisted of multiple americas got talent alums.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Probably one of the best crews top to bottom.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a Junior Suite. The bathroom layout was nice and the room had a great balcony. More than enough room for two people to get ready.

Ship tip

Make sure that if you are sailing on Odyssey in the Mediterranean that you take a close look at the ports and the itineraries. We are in pretty good shape but even we had trouble with three port days in a row. A lot of folks opted to rest instead of seeing Mykonos which is sad when you spend that much money. Also, despite what Royal says, all of the Santorini, Ephesus, and Naples tours are a ton of walking with elevation. If you are older or need special accommodations be prepared to still struggle with the amount of walking and up hill at that.

Ports of call

Santorini, Greece

You can wait hours for the team to take you up and the walk up the 528 stairs is not for the faint of heart but faster. The donkey’s are an option. Try to get off the ship early or be in shape for the steps.
