Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We had several good meals at the dining room. We had many more meals that were terrible. Desserts were all tasteless ? I think the Indian head chef and his all indian sous chefs are not familiar with western palates or western food ? Quantity is placed over quality. I'd recommend shrinking the menu items and focus on putting a little time and love into the food.

Izumi Japanese Cuisine

5 out of 5

Great food, worth the extra $$. It was a break from the tasteless general population food they served

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pool lounge chairs are reserved by older guests with towels and clips. Making them hard to find during the day. I counted 63 'reserved' vacant lounges empty while other guests circled to find one to use. Royal does not enforce their own no reserving lounge chairs policy that they have posted.

Actually, I think Golden Corral has more variety than the Windjammer Buffet. 🤣. I'm not sure about the buffet items, but the menu in the main dining room is the same on all the RCCL ships. It may also be true of the buffet. On my next cruise, I am going to check that theory out for the buffet. While many people might like it, I am not a big fan of all the East Indian food and European meats and cheeses in the buffet. I would rather they have more American variety and I don't mean more hamburgers and hot dogs. I also noticed the dessert selection is less than pre-covid. A lot of their desserts are kind of tasteless anyway.

IMO, the quality of food and service, particularly in the MDR, has intentionally been lowered to "encourage" cruisers to eat in the specialty dining rooms, i.e. spend more money!

The food on all cruise lines has gone downhill, imo. I'm used to having a lot of spices, but I think they steer toward blander foods to accommodate more palates nowadays.
