Review summary

I absolutely loved the cruise and would definitely go back on the Odyssey. I was disappointed in the food at the Solarium Bistro this time, although it was a gorgeous restaurant. Some of the food was not hot enough. And some of the Mediterranean food that I have come to expect at the Bistro was not there when I had lunch on a sea day (when one person was serving ALL the hot foods to everyone in line). Some of the food in the main dining room was better than others, but I have sailed on Royal Caribbean enough to know my favorites and ignore the others (For example, I love Moussaka, but not on Royal Caribbean). I have no problem finding enough to eat. Most important, the lobster was great!!

Entertainment

Shows were plentiful and excellent! First experience on a Quantum class ship and I wasn't sure how it would compare with the great shows on the Oasis class ships. It certainly did not disappoint. I could tell there were a couple glitches with "The Book" and would have love to seen the show with more acrobatics. My favorite shows were the "TAP Factory" and "Effectors", but we also loved the comedian and the magician (who could also have made a living as a comedian). I did not care for the Headliner singer, as the performance was more corny and old-fashioned (and I am in my 60's!). The musicians in the lounges were hit and miss, some very good, others (singers) cringe worthy, but that is typical.

Service and Staff

I noticed that the staff seemed a little overwhelmed at times, perhaps because this cruise was fairly full, while past cruises were supposedly not. Still, everyone was pleasant and our waiters were concerned when we didn't eat as much.

Ship Quality

Sparkling clean ship! The Solarium and the Royal Esplanade seemed slightly small for the size ship and I didn't like walking through a restaurant that was the walkway. It gave the restaurant more exposure, but it kept me from wanting to eat there!

Cabin / Stateroom

Plenty of room and storage space for two people. Very clean.

Ship tip

Be sure to book shows and activities as soon as possible. They are not to be missed!

Cozumel, Mexico

Have been there several times, so I did not do an excursion this time. Good shopping opportunities right off the ship.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

Love the island. I just relaxed and enjoyed the weather. Found the harbor area was more protected from the wind.

Nassau, Bahamas

Been to Nassau too many times. Stayed on the ship.
