Review summary

Overall a great family trip (ages 19 to 76). We really appreciated the last day at sea to recover from the 15,000 plus steps a day. The ports were great. The ship was great. The food and service was great. Thankful for the opportunity to see all the historic sites with my family.

Embarkation

Once you make it through Barcelona traffic, getting on the ship was a breeze.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining was really good. The service was excellent and we enjoyed some of the best main dining food we've eaten. (This was our 17th cruise.)

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I'm sure they were great, but we were too busy off the ship to do much on the ship. The survey required a response though.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We always enjoy the water show and it did not disappoint. The ice show was also good. We thought they did a great job with CATS too.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The dining staff was wonderful. Our main server, Ashnah, was a perfect fit for us. She was excellent in her service and funny too! Our room steward did a great job as well.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was not our first time on this ship. It is well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Love having a balcony to enjoy earlier mornings.

Ship tip

Tips did not start coming out of our account until a few days in to the cruise. I had gone to customer service to check and they told us that we had prepaid. I had booked several cruises around the same time and didn't think we had, but I thought I must have forgotten. We started spending our credits and then the tips started coming out. So be aware of that.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

We stayed 3 days in Barcelona prior to the cruise. Beautiful city with lots to do.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

Our group split up and enjoyed different things here. There's something for everyone.

Marseille (Provence), France

They don't advertise a free shuttle to the city, but if you can walk for 10 minutes there is a free city shuttle. If I go back, I'll book an excursion here. I feel like we missed some good stuff.

La Spezia, Italy

4 out of 5
Long day. La Spezia is a good distance from Pisa and Florence. Didn't get much time either place, but still fun trip. We booked this one through CruisesOnly. Our guide was very friendly and informative. Good for a party of 10.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
We booked our own transportation and tour guide for this day and they pulled off a miracle. We saw Palentine Hill, the Forum, the Colessium, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Vatican Museum, and St. Peter's. Our guide, Alex, was amazing and full of knowledge of history and art. He is a local who was great at getting us to the front and center of everything for great family pictures!

Naples, Italy

We tried the Capri, Sorrento, and Pompeii excursion this day. They were all good stops, but this time we booked through RCL and it was 3 hours between meeting time and getting off at Capri. (Not well organised.) If I went back, I'd only go to Capri and not through RCL.

You basically walk off sihp and into taxi. We carried out our own luggage, so I'm not sure how much that helped.
