It was a great return to cruising. Highly recommended.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
There was a lot of confusion as far as the “please arrive 2 hours later than your check in time” email we got, we arrived on time for our 12pm check in and took a chance. Waited outside in line for about 10 minutes and then went through the normal boarding process. We did wait inside the terminal for about an hour as they cleaned the ship but definitely made it onboard faster than expected.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Only giving this 4 stars instead of 5 as the main dining room kind of let us down. Went the first night and the menu was about as exciting as an Applebee’s. No offense to anyone who loves Applebee’s! Windjammer was awesome and Izumi did not disappoint.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
A lot of onboard activities (shows) required reservations so if you don’t book them the second you get on the ship, you are likely to miss out. We didn’t mind. Spent a lot of time by the pool and hot tub anyway.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Live music on the pool deck and in the pub were on point.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was great as usual. Bartenders and waitstaff on point. Everyone looked like they were excited to be back.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I have never seen a cleaner ship! I understand it wasn’t a full ship, but the staff constantly were disinfecting everything. I never felt unsafe or at risk. I was honestly shocked.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Decently sized, nice layout and very clean. Balcony was of good size. Had two chairs and a table.
Ship tip
Book excursions and onboard activities ASAP. Most comedy shows ran a little late for us, 10:30-11pm, so maybe have coffee with dinner.
Wanted to like this port of call more but got roped into another all-inclusive beach trip. Only exception with this excursion is that your are constantly being asked to buy something. Fake cigars, fake jewelry…etc. I would most likely stay near the port next time.
Not a whole lot to do here. Got off the ship and right back on. Unless you pre-book an excursion (we missed out) the port is very small and the outside area is a little sketchy. Like any Caribbean island, don’t be an idiot and flash jewelry and money and you’ll be OK.
Awesome! Love the fact that the drink package follows you onto the island. Plenty to do and the food is great. I suggest the lagoon pool with swim up bar.
Did something different this time and went to an all-inclusive (Mr. Sancho’s). Food was good, drinks were good. All I can say is bring cash. The fee ($60) per person doesn’t include tips for the staff, but if you take care of them, you might wobble a little back to the ship.
Quick and painless. Tag your bag the night before and watch the TV day of for your time to disembark. Grabbed a quick breakfast and we were off by 9. Getting an Uber from the port is a little nuts. Be prepared to pay a little extra if you don’t take an airport shuttle.
