Being that this was my first cruise it was nice that we had a suite, the lines getting on and off were long but not if you had a suite. If I had not had a suite I would not have not enjoyed this cruise. First time and last time cruising. It's just not for me.
Embarkation

It took no time at all to check in, about 15 minutes, but we had a suite so that could have been why it did not take so long. But the lines were long.

Food and Dining

Our main dining room was the American Icon on deck 3, the food was good, service was fast and food had nice flavor, we ate there twice. Chops Grille was just ok, food had flavor but was lukewarm at best, but would have been nice to see what we were eating, we ate there once. Izumi was the Japanese resturant the food was not worth the money, the steak was chewy, and I believe the cook shared our lobster with a couple of the guest (only two lobster tails on the grill and that is what we ordered) the salad taste like it had not been rinsed off. Solarium Bistro Restaurant was not what I expected, we ate there for dinner once, we did not care for the food. The Dog House had really good hot dogs went there three times. Park Cafe had good food, I also enjoyed the fresh "make your own" salad bar, and yes I tried the roast beef sandwich and it was good but cold. Sorrento's Pizza was ok "my husband" said. Coastal Kitchen yes, I enjoyed this restaurant, they had finger food thru out the day. We ate breakfast and dinner at this restaurant a number of times and the food was good each time we dined. Dean makes you feel at home here. I enjoyed the Non Alcoholic Peach daiquiri from any bar on the ship. The Windjammer buffet to our suprise had good food the one time I ate there, it food was hot and fresh, my husband ate there twice.
Onboard Activities

The All Access Tour was sooooo worth the money, it helped us to understand more about the ship, if interested you will learn about the ship and how it operates day to day. The Bottomless Galley Brunch was nice and the food at the end was really good, worth the money.

August gave great service keeping things in order in our suite. Dean made us feel like we were talking with an old friend at the bar in the Coastal Kitchen. Others in the Coastal Kitchen were good also, August and Dean stood out for us.

Ship tip
As a first time cruiser, my over all experience was just ok. To tell the truth if we did not have a suite I would not have enjoyed this cruise. This was my first and last cruise, I will stick to VRBO and resorts. I did enjoy myself, I am just not a cruiser.
The ride to the port was nice, the seats on the bus were very comfortable. The ride took about 45 mins, and when we got to the port to unload it went very smoothly.
It was not a long walk from the pier to the port. Barefoot beach had a nice beach and the lunch they served was good. Did not do an excursion, just enjoyed the beach.
Patrick4, I did not like the way that I was treated when I slipped on a grape in the Windjammer buffet and they tried to make it seem like I was the one with the problem. Like I did something wrong. I still have a bruise on my forehead. I did not like the fact that while dining at Izumi Japanese restaurant (paid restaurant) they shared my food, the food was bad, and we were not treated like everyone else. It is my first experience and I just prefer the way I am treated at a 5 star resort. This did not compare, I was pampered and If I am going to spend my money I prefer that experience over this boating thing.
You are not alone. Cruising is not for everyone. I love to cruise. I tried camping once and that will never happen again. Best wishes for future trips.
