Review summary

Royal Caribbean has to please as many people as they can and this is a delicate subject for the fact that many people do not control their children and expect to go about their annoying ways. There should be a "family" section for the formal dinning area. Nobody wants to hear a screaming kid and put up with food being thrown at them. Try to imagine at a great meal with some fine wine and then a family with small uncontrolled children sets down at the table next to you and makes your dream become a nightmare. Not happy with this and I paid good money to relax and enjoy myself. Many others had the same problem. Discussed this with many people while waiting in line. Rethinking cruise line to one that caters to adults. Royal Caribbean should consider this as most of the higher paying passengers are older repeat cruisers that opt for many premium services. Not once every 5 year families on a budget. On the other hand, ship is very large and is well built for comfort and imperceptible movement at high speeds.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth easy and boarded early.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was OK but not as good as is 2015. Some days better than others but not the quality of the cruise 2 years ago.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
These area were nice except they could not handle the crowds that used them.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Liked Come Fly with Me. Well rehearsed and nice acrobatics.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
The children's programs did not control all the bad behavior that was prevalent through out the ship with kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great staff. That is your biggest asset and we tipped over and about the recommended amount.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Nice park area. Well laid out.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Smart use of space.

Ship tip

Sail at non holiday times to avoid massive crowds of misbehaving kids. We did and it was still bad at times. Choose an adult only ship if this bothers you.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
smooth exit

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
damage cleaned up about 50 percent in downtown. Avoid excursions for now.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
Be careful. A lot of power outages and dangerous areas just a outside of historic side.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

3 out of 5
Not able to handle the amount of people from the Oasis of the Seas. Zip line was not open. Makes you wonder why.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Many people left early making it very crowded.

Yes indeed. I would have been the closest one with a napkin if the kid drew any blood from his close encounter of the table kind. There are indeed more expensive ships you can cruise one and probably won't en

LOL awwww funny, but feel bad that the kids need better parenting. Even with good parenting, kids are kids and do childish things, as we know... but when parents don't even care and they get hurt... just upsetting. But this was just a head bump/bang. Thankfully, nothing major.

I’ve only been on a couple cruises. Our oasis cruise is dirt cheap for a family of five. Aren’t there nicer ships for people without kids? Seems like this ship is more for families or couples in a budget

lmg1988 I did say something. Right after the kid banged his head on the table I said "Whoops!", looked at the parents and took a nice long sip of wine. They finished up their drinks and left. Dessert and espresso was noticeably quieter.

True, it's the parents. Just because you're on vacation and you brought your small children along doesn't mean it is somebody else's responsibility to keep an eye on them. We had a similar experience where the three children with the family having dinner next to us were running around and crawling under our table. One of the kids banged their head and started crying..... That's when the parents took notice.

It is definitely the parents... they need to control their kids. When my kids were very young, even with the baby in high chair, we were constantly commended and thanked for how well behaved our children were (& still are). I didn't take their mess and they knew they would get it if they cut up. I finally had to stand up to one of my friends... who I'm sure allowed her kids to cut up when they cruised. It is very disrespectful; & truly the parent (s) doing the disrespecting. We have been working with a 2 yr old & her table manners. He parents let her have her way at the restaurants! Not here. She has learned manners and likes practicing them.

Hope your next cruise is better. We had kids running up and the cabin halls before. Not fun!
