Review summary

We travelled from Australia to the USA for this cruise, and for anyone who has traveled to/from Australia, then you'll know how gruelling the flight can be, but with this to look forward to, made it a whole more pallitable! We have cruised with Royal Caribbean once and they do have a certain edge to the whole experience. We had a balcony Oceanview room which has it advantages,  but I really wouldn't miss it as all the fun and entertainment happens everywhere else on the ship. You can do as much or as little as you like, but most of all you are guaranteed a great time. We would recommend this to anyone considering cruising. Some people have difficulty with being on the ocean,  but honestly, when I  did notice the ship listing somewhat side to side, I couldn't really feel it, only see it when looking to the horizon. The Oasis of the Seas is certainly a bug ship, with A LOT of passengers, but you don't feel crowded at all.

The cabin was always clean and tidy and the cabin staff are excellent. Would have liked a kettle in the cabin for making Tea/Coffee.

Ship tip

We booked our shore excursions online with Royal Caribbean, but some people who have a little local knowledge just hire a car and see the sights at their own pace.

I have always wanted to see the Kennedy Space Center and also fulfilled a childhood dream of seeing a rocket launch.

We did fly over just to do the cruise, my wife arranged it as a package with the travel agent, we did spend a day at the Kennedy Space Center the day before the cruise and Universal Resort Orlando the day after but would love to see some more of America.

PS - I don't know if I could do an interior cabin. I've always had balconies, but we usually put our kids in a nearby interior and they don't mind at all. They like the darkness for sleeping, but I'm usually up with the sun.

Wow, I can't believe you traveled all the way from Australia just to cruise! Have you been to the different cities in the US before or was your trip only to cruise? I would love to visit Australia some day. It seems very nice. Just wondering! 😊

plus we would bring binoculars and it was fun to be on our balcony and be able to see the binoculars in the islands and things we were passing

we like a balcony we used it a lot we would have wine and cheese would have coffee in the morning we would watch the people when they get off the boat at the dock and if we were ever feeling queasy at all we knew that we could open the door and go out and get some fresh air and that helps a lot instead of having to find somewhere else to be able to get some fresh air depending on where your cabin is and how far it is to get outside

I sailed the Oasis in 2015, and loved it also! As for not really missing a balcony room because of all the fun and time spent up on deck, we felt the same way. After years of booking only balcony cabins, and thinking I couldn't live without one, we switched to inside cabins as a way to save money, and I have not missed it one bit! We are only in our cabin to clean up, get dressed, and sleep. The balcony was nice for morning coffee and evening sunset cocktails, but definetly not worth the added cost for just those two reasons. Glad you had a wonderful trip on the Oasis!
