Review summary

ship was very nice.  Getting on and off ship was very smooth. As far as the lines for shopping was very unorganized there were people everywhere.  I was in a bar asked the waiter for ice water, he walked away a never  came back. We went to others tables where others ordered alcoholic beverages. So I guess he just wanted a tip. I went to the bar and asked do you not serve anyone who orders ice water? Bartender said the waiter has a problem as he pointed to his head . Went on sail and snorkeling tour. The beer that was served was old and sweet, tasted discussing. As far as I'm concerned I will not be traveling with Royal Caribbean again!

Chime away young lady! You just make me want to get on this ship even more LOL

I just returned from our 6/11 Oasis cruise (our 1st on a big ship). My husband is retired & I'm in HR for 30+ years. We don't cruise often, about 12 over the last 25 years. This was our best cruise ever - I'm chiming in because we can't stop talking about the excellent customer service we received. "Every" staff member we came in contact with gave service with a smile and went out of their way to assist.

Ghiagal! You think they're hiring? Lol!

ghiagal    8 years ago

Yes because we actually didn't have a bad experience we must work for them. Not that I wouldn't love a discount on my cruises, but I'll stick to marketing a Vegas casino thanks.

I wonder how many paid RC employees are on this forum? I count at least 2.

Meghad, last RC cruise I paid to have my hair done for formal night- it was bad - I mean prom night 1985 bad! I was clear on what I wanted - after 20 minutes of explaining why I hated it and getting no response I went to GSC- she had it immediate taken off my account and spoke to the supervisor of the salon to have her redo it immediately. I would have been happy with just redoing and paying

Others stock the bars, he may not have known it was just stocked if the outside was cool he may have just grabbed it- being sweet isn't really their fault ..... But again reading the review it is completely unclear if that was on the ship or at Port

Drinks ready and at the table. Our room Porter had ice in our room every afternoon and evening. The few times there was a wait at the Champagne bar, the bartender we knew nodded and had our drinks ready by the time we reached the bar. Again still not even sure those complaints were from port or ship?! Any bartender on board would change our a beer if you didn't like it or it wasn't chilled-

Well said Als! I as well have worked in CS for years, I currently handle marketing and VIPs for a casino- so not only expect high levels of service from my staff, but myself as well. I also expect my guests to be respectful to the staff. That is how we treat the staff when we are on board and surprisingly we get terrific service! Our barman at the MDR knew our drinks by the third night had our

I have never had an issue with RCCL Customer Service or any interaction with a crew member. If there was ever an issue, they would be quick to try and make up for it. It's all a a matter of perspective and expectation. I'm in a customer service type of position, and understand the other side of the fence... But I'm also not asking for an arm and a leg.

And yes the $5 tshirt days or big discount shopping days are hectic, but that is what draws a lot of people to cruises and the Caribbean.. Duty free and cheaper!

Hmmmmm.....uncivilized? Interesting choice of words. I've been in customer service for decades and people in general seem to have a false sense of entitlement these days. Customer service is an art and a skill. If you're, dealing with someone unskilled, find someone who is. But, from a CS person's point of view, I treat the employees of the ship with respect, kindness and tip well. And oddly enough, I have wonderful interactions with everyone and impeccable service.

I have felt this way with Royal Caribbean before. As far as I'm concerned much of the customer service is very poor. Of course maybe most are not civilized enough to noticed subtle differences like this?

Lol I'm the same way, beer is not what you like - the bartender would gladly change it for something else, I didn't like a drink on board and told him it was ok as I ordered it, he took it away and said I was not drinking something I don't enjoy!

TripleBs    8 years ago

I just don't get it Ghiagal? Let's say it was on the ship, that's enough to make someone never sail on RCCL again? That may have been a knee jerk reaction as far as my response goes but I'm just amazed at some of the reviews...anyways, we leave in 9 days and we are ecstatic!!!😊

ghiagal    8 years ago

Lol TripleBs, I'm still trying to figure out if it was on board or at the port..... On board, yeah on the $10 shopping day it was crowded but it's like that on any ship - especially one with 6,300 people . The other stuff sounds like it was at a Port, which aside from Labadee the cruise line doesn't run ports. We may never know

TripleBs    8 years ago

So let me get this straight, you didn't receive your ice water, your beer tasted "old and sweet" and there were lines for shopping? And you have now decided to not sail with RCCL? One word for you "Wow"

ghiagal    8 years ago

I'm not understanding was the bar issues on board or at port? The one sounds like on board (I doubt was waiting for a tip as most people don't tip at the bars on board). The other sounds like an excursion, which while you book through the cruise they aren't owned or run by the cruise line - unless maybe you're on Labadee.
