Review summary

This was our 26th cruise. We have been on several different lines. Royal Carribean and Celebrity are our favorites. This ship is absolutely spotless and the crew just wonderful. The food was very good and a huge variety to choose from. The destinations were nice but, except for Mexico, not representative the the real condition of the country. The ports are 'disneyfied'. Safe and strile.

My only complaint is the charges every time you turn around, and drink prices are the highest in the industry. The drink packages are absurd. Speciality restaurants were over priced. Art sales are still a ripoff as they have been for years.

The captain rerouted the cruise to avoid bad weather and was a very smart thing to do. Weather was excellent due to his decision.

The cruise director his second were loud and fast talking. The stage show "Cats" was long and boring and the theater was half empty after intermission.

We will be back but on a different ship.

Steward JIM was a prince, could not have been better.

Ship tip

Take fewer clothes. Sneak in wine or liquor prices are way to high. Sadly the 'formal nite' ain't what it used to be.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Good food, fun shopping, and good bargaining.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Take the time to walk into the village. Folks are very polite but a bit aggressive. Need meds, this is the place to shop. Nice photo ops. See the real third world up close.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Good local art from vendors. Very polite.

I don't drink LOL if I do it's one drink maybe while I'm sitting by the pool. All my money is going to the specialty restaurants already know LOL

We did get it on sale for Oasis. But we are the same, I'm going to drink a few sodas, bottles of water and I'm on vacation I'm definitely not keeping track of drinks, if I have 4 a day I break even and on a sea day that's pretty easy to do hanging out by the pool

We just paid $49 a day plus 18% gratuity for the ultimate package for our upcoming Oasis, we paid $54 plus 18% gratuity on Carnival in March

There was a small uptick in price for drink packages as I noticed, but it is with the increase in gratuities. As many know, you just need to do the math and see if it is worth it. I personally get it because I can make it worth while on a cruise, but you don't have to.

Drink packages are the same prices that Carnival charges, only difference is carnival is 15 limit, Royal doesn't have a limit. Honestly you can do the entire week without paying for anything but whatever drink package (soda or otherwise) and gratuity. We cruised in November- prepaid gratuity and drink package and only bough stuff on board because we had $250 in on board credit to use up.
