Review summary

Overall, it would have been nice during the booking process if someone told us this was a spring break cruise. It could have really been a nice time if we chose another week. It did not start well when we saw that our luggage was compromised and water bottles and a bottle of wine were confiscated from our luggage. Smoking in the Casino was a big dissappointment giving us little to do while at sea during the day time, since the spring breakers took up the entire 11th floor pool deck.

Embarkation

They confiscated a bottle of wine from our luggage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
They were fine. Some of the main course meals were a little overcooked. I was concerned that the wait staff handling food did not have gloves on, especially given the virus outbreak.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
No one informed us when we booked that there would be 1290 College kids on spring break. If we knew, we would have chosen a different week. We were not able to enjoy the pool or other outside activities. Sleeping at nightime was a challenge with all the noise from drunk kids.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Overall they did a very nice job. However, the wait staff should have been wearing gloves when serving us breakfast in the morning.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Heavy emphasis on cleaning throughout. I gave this only 2 stars for two reasons. We could not enjoy or use the casino because you allowed smoking. Second, the Bliss lounge layout is a pass through. While trying to watch a program, you have hundreds of people walking in front of you. Also the second hand smoke from the Casino filtered into the lobby areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The bed was comfortable. However the room layout was not what was in the picture when we booked. It was very tight.

This trip would have been much better if there was one more port stop like grand cayman. At least we could get off the ship away from all the spring breakers.

Disembarkation

fine.

When taking a vacation rather at a beach area or a cruise, April and March has always been during spring breaks

The pool deck wasn't as full as you say. Plus, if you really want to avoid college spring breakers don't travel during the first 2 weeks of March. During both At Sea days we were able to enjoy the pool and find lounge chairs. It depends on when you went up deck 11 and 12. Most of the spring breakers were either at the bars or between the pool and the stage. We had no problem at night with the spring breakers on deck 10. As advises in a previous comment, do a little homework/research before booking. It is really easy to look at the calendar of colleges online so you can avoid travelling during those times.

Wine and other alcohols are usually a carry on item.

Moral of the story.... do your homework before booking a cruise.
