Review summary
We had a fantastic cruise experience on NCL's Norwegian Sun.
I think this was either my 14th or 15th cruise, previously we had been on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Holland America and this was the best. Second time having a balcony cabin and would never sail again without a cabin balcony.
The food was better than on any of the other lines, we did check out one special dining venue the Moderno, which served Brazilian Churrascaria and it was excellent. It was extra cost, but only $20 per person and well worth the additional cost. All other meals we had were complimentary, part of the freestyle dining, the two main dining rooms, Four Seasons and Seven Seas were fine with very good service. We also ate in the Buffets, the Garden Café and or Great Outdoors for early or late dining. We did not have a bad meal, or any that was less than satisfactory.
The ship was a bit smaller than the mega liners with a capacity for 1900 or so passengers, which we liked as it was not overwhelming. The ship was exceptionally clean and the staff in all venues were very accommodating and friendly. Only negative was the temperature of the main show lounge. Being senior citizens, we don't like getting chilled and that venue, the Stardust Theater should have been warmer and less drafty.
We had to tender in one port, Belize City, Belize. We prefer when the ship can dock on a pier and we can walk off or on at our convenience. That being said we loved Belize, where we took the Hells Gate River Rafting excursion that was a highlight of the various excursions and ports.
The international staff on the Sun were always trying to please (and they did please us). We especially want to commend our cabin steward, Sam L. and the cruise social staff member, Vish, both were very accommodating and friendly. Both of these men extended the extra mile of service that made our vacation special.

Ship tip
The Brazilian Churrascaria dining in Moderno was special and well worth the extra $20 per person cost. The regular freestyle dining exceeded our expectations.
