Review summary

The ship is run very efficiently. The captain walked around and was very visible and friendly. The service is very good, food was fine and overall very clean and comfortable. We were doubtful since their is no required individual tipping - just a standard service fee. Yet, the service was probably the best we have experienced (have taken about 10 cruises). The freestyle cruising worked fine (our first time), but would have preferred an exclusive formal evening for those who chose to participate. Instead, casual and formal were mixed in all restaurants. Childrens' program very, very poor. No activities while at port - which was most of the time - unless you paid a babysitting fee. Also, limited activities for children in general.

Entertainment

Excellent evening entertainment - broadway quality

Children's Programs

Not only was the facility and activities lacking, but we found the staff very unfriendly and rigid. Didn't seem very experienced like on other cruiselines. Forgot to sign in our children on more than one occasion.

Service and Staff

All seemed to go above and beyond - whether in the garden cafe or formal restaurants.

We had a Romantic Suite, so we expected exceptional service, which we got. The room was great and the concierge and butler service was excellent.

Same reaction as Ketchikan

Very commercial, but worth seeing - good shopping if interested.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
This was our third time in Alaska. Was sorry to see how commercialized Skagway has become. Lots of cruise type stores have emerged in the last several years. Takes away from the historical sites.
Don't Miss: Should see the old mining town exhibits and storefronts

Pros: Great service all around!!

Cons: Very poor children's program
