Never Again by JenL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Bermuda

I went on this cruise for a family members wedding, so we were a group of about 26 ranging from 2 years old to 80. I have cruisedin the past but more recently usually go on all inclusive vacations. The amount of money for this cruise was not worth what you were given. You can go to an all inclusive for the same amount or cheaper and not have to pay for anything when you get there, not even tips! The balcony mini suite was extremely small with only 2 drawers and a small closet. We had 3 people in the room, 2 adults And a child and had to take everything out of our suitcases and find places for it do we could stuff the suitcases under the bed or else we wouldnt b able to move. There was only 1 120v outlet in the room and 1 in the bathroom. We thought an iron would be available for use in the room but you had to call to get one, wait on hold for them to answer then wait another 45 min for them to bring it to you! They ran out of food items at the buffet such as Italian dressing but had 3 of the same types of dressing. They also had a lot of starchy foods on the buffet line. The watersides close at the pool very often and the pool closes to of the water is rough. The basketball court was usually being used during the day by a kids camp so you couldnt play. Most of the competitions pool side were for adults not children. Lastly you will be charged a $12 per day service charge per person on your bill. Make sure to go to the desk on the last night and ask to remove this. This is in addition to gratuity being added to your check Everytime you order a drink!

a disapointing cruise by EllieB1

Sail date: /
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Bermuda

We booked 3 suites on the Norwegian star for our family. We were not informed that the suites were directly above a night club that played loud music until all hours of the night. As a result we weren't able to get a good nights sleep. We were told that everyone who occuoies those rooms complains.

Bermuda Norwegian Star by DavidS35

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Bermuda

Food was fantastic. Mush prefer dining room meals in Versailles and Aqua. Also had a good meal in Cagny's (pay resturant). Some waiter staff members had difficult time with English. Rooms were average. Older, smaller ship - not as many ammentities (ice rink, rock climbing fall, mini golf, shops in promandade area, etc) as larger ships. My first time to Bermuda and with a cruise with an overnight stop. It was good, not sure I took full advantage of the island's offerings or the ability to stay on the island later. My fault, not the ship or NCL. NCL daily service charge of $12/pp per night seemed higher than other cruise lines. Also took some getting used to not have two main seatings for meals with opposite entertainment availability. Missed the first show because of the poor planning. It was my second time on NCL. My personal preference will be to return to RCCL.

A fun trip by TrishP

I liked the ship's size and staterooms but the the clubs entertainment was way too late. It also took too long to get to our destination of Bermuda.

Ship was in great shape... by samfiremedic

Ship was in great shape and I had a wonderful cruise. I don't like where they put the spinnaker, but the family suites are amazing. Even without having a balcony in them, I loved that room.

Took pics with Captain Smirnoff and Flava Flave!😍 Ah.. yes, food was good and everything else. I always brag about this cruise. One of my best! Too bad it was just 2 days!

Sea Sick for 1/2of the cruise. by NaomiW1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was nice, clean and the employeee's friendly. I have cruised on Carnival and Disney in the past and thought their room stewards were much more attentive to details. The seas were rough almost the entier trip and out of the 7 days I spent three in my cabin sea sick, vomitting and eating dramamine and crackers and ginger ale. All the food at the buffets and dining rooms were very good. We alwyas had a good selection to choose from. What I did not like was the ship didn't have a 24 hour pizza bar or a late night sandwhich station like the Carnival ships do.

A Wonderful Cruise becomes Exciting by LarryF2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very nice and well laid out. Trip became exciting when we were asked by Coast Guard to respond to a Mayday call from a sailboat and we went and rescued a couple about 60 miles NW of Cuba.

Best Vacation Ever! by Katie781

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was AMAZING. Very few kids since we avoided school vacation week (yessss!). Tampa is a great port and we wished we had more time to spend there. Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Roatan were great ports. Belize City was really scummy, but we went on an excursion and had a great time. We went zip lining and cave tubing through NCL. It was expensive but worth it! Cozumel we did the Cozumel Bar Hop, which is through a private company (just Google search Cozumel Bar Hop). The company is run by Canadian and American ex pats. We enjoyed the bar hop so much we really want to go back! At Costa Maya we did a half day excursion through NCL to the Mayan ruins at Chacchoben. We chose the morning excursion and then had time to shop around the port and go to the little beach near by. It was a really enjoyable excursion and was one of the less expensive ruins excursions. At Roatan we did another NCL excursion to Maya Key, a private island a short boat ride from the port. The weather wasn't so great that day, but Maya Key had a wildlife refuge, a nice beach, some historical exhibits, and a nice lunch. The service on the ship was great and the food was awesome. No complaints. Our room was good but our ocean view was an obstructed view (we did know this in advance though, so whatever). The shows were good. We were very wiped from all of our activities in the ports that we didn't spend a lot of time out at night in the bars or night club.

Stay away from this ship! by ChristineH6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The only people who liked this ship is first time cruisers. If you have been on a cruise before your in for a big disappointment. The food and the design is horrable. I've never been on a cruise that didn't serve sea food. The one and only pool is small. Don't let them fool you. They say they have 4 pools but only 2 are for the public and the other is a kids pool. The Mystery Lunch was a joke and not worth paying for. The rooms are smaller the any other ship i've been on.

Relaxing getaway by RobinB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall, this ship, crew & staff were excellent. Because of moving from restaurant to restaurant, you don't build the same relationship with your servers that we have on other ships. But, overall, the service was very good everywhere we went. The staff seem sincerely happy & service-oriented. The ship is beautiful. And the food was some of the best we've had!
