Review summary

Even though I may have been unkind in some of my summaries , we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise. Time flew on by unbelievably fast. The biggest disappoint was the disembarkation process. It was totally disorganized and not very well thought out. Be assured it was not the fault of immigration or customs authorities, that went very well. I think it was more of a case of the ships personnel not knowing their jobs.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was basically as most all departing cruises. Long lines, contradictory information, unnecessary jostling by fellow would be shipmates but, it all seemed to work its way out.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Somewhat disappointed in the NCL Star. The food in the "Market Street Buffet" was very disappointing. The layout of the room left a lot to be desired. Often a desired food item was in one area but, the second or third items may have been across the dining area or around the opposite side you were located. We found the " waitstaff" not to be highly motivated and on occasion somewhat surly. The Specialty Rooms fared much better food wise. Service was much better but occasionally spotty.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Very disappointing. Trivia/bingo was short on frequency and often so so. Some of the other "games" caused some of the passengers to feel the entertainment staff was dealing with sub-teens. There was only one guest lecturer on board for the entire cruise and his presentations became very stale after a day of so.The most disappointing area in my opinion was the activities. Very sophomoric and often borderline infantile. For a Trans Atlantic trip they need to do some rethinking.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The highlight of the cruise was the selection of the performers in the Nightly Shows. I would rate them good to excellent. Fantastic Cruise entertainers and the guest entertainers were top notch. Some of the best we have seen on all our cruises.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Borderline.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Upon boarding the ship, the absolutely first thought that crossed my mind was "this is a tired lady".Buffet very poorly designed. There were on occasion restrooms that were non usable. Several female shipmates complained about broken stalls.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Small, some of the furnishing need replacing, other furnishing were "ratty". The TV appeared to get ready to fall off its mountings (it didn't). Our room attendant was great.

Ship tip

Most of the entertainment venues were on a single deck, Very east to get around.

Disembarkation

A total disaster. Completely disorganized. Waiting for over 3 1/2 hours to disembark. Don't blame it on immigration. That was seamless. Lack of organization by the ships personnel.
