Review summary

The ship was a lot smaller than we thought it would be, but that was just our mistake of not really looking at how big it was. The rooms seemed much smaller compared to other cruises, and the beds were VERY uncomfortable. Some people LOVE the freestyle cruising - this was our first time trying it and we decided we didn't like it. Yes the ship had a TON of dining options - but only 3 or 4 were actually part of the original fare. The others were all an upcharge. Plus - with no set dining times, one of the more popular free dining options was a 45 minute wait! Not what I want on a cruise... We had fun just because we were with friends and family - but if we had to do it again...we wouldn't choose Norweigan.

The kids-club area "Planet Kids" seemed very small and many times when we picked up our kids (4 & 5 years old), they were all playing on the floor in a room that was probably 12 feet by 12 feet.

Bathroom was a good size, but bedroom was smaller than we expected - and not much storage room for clothing. Plus - bed and hide-a-bed couch VERY uncomfortable.

Great time! We did the Raiders of the Lost Mayan Cave excursion...and LOVED it! My parents took my kids on the Calypso Train - said it was a waste of time and money.

Beach was BEAUTIFUL!!! Bring a swim suit and a towel and head straight to the beach. Clear as can be!!!!

Beautiful country. We did the Gumblimba Park and Pirate Cave excursion. Good for the kids...kind of hokey for my husband and I.

Pros: Being with family

Cons: The beds were horribly uncomfortable, decided we disliked the "freestyle" dining option

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.
