We just got back from the inside passage cruise of Alaska and it was wonderful to say the least. The dining rooms and staterooms were beautiful and the service was top of the line. The ports of call should have all benn in Alaska but one was in Prince Rupert, Canada and was terrible, It was a dowtonw are with nothing to see or do. They should have had an extra day in Juneau or another Alaskan port. We should have checked our itenerary before we booked! Even with this the cruise was wonderful. Restaurants were never crowded and no more than a 5 minute wait for a table for two at any time.
The specialty restaurtants had a cover charge that was totally out of line and the food was NOT good at all in those.

Pros: Freestyle meals

Cons: Cover charges for restaurants

Recommends Norwegian Star? Yes!

Skagway, Alaska
Very small town with 200 full time residents Mostly a shopping port! But very pretty and very quaint.
Don't Miss: Train ride to White Pass! Absolutely spectacular!
Prince Rupert, British Columbia
What a waste of time. Only a big city with nothing to see or do. We walked around and felt endangered from young kids in street gangs. This port should be deleted from their ports of call. After all, this is an inside passage of Alaska. There were other ports in Alaska we could have gone to.
Don't Miss: Stay on the ship!
Ketchikan, Alaska
Walking tour of the city on your is marked. Salmon swimming upstream to spawn.
Don't Miss: Salmon spawning
Juneau, Alaska
Wonderful. Would have been a port to stay at for 2 days. Could not do it all in a 5 hour period. Take the tram up Robert's mountain and hike the rest of the way to the top. Breathtaking view...and hike!
Don't Miss: Tram on Robert's mountain
