Our worst cruise ever.

Sail Date: December 01, 2007

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

We sailed with NCL before on the Sun. That was enjoyable. This ship's crew has an underling tone of negativity towards the customer. Whether it be resentment or a feeling of superiority is unclear. Several crew members ( room service, bar tenders, front desk and others ) were just rude and demeaning. We have never been "talked down to" or questioned as to our ability to read on any other cruiseline. If you are looking for an enjoyable vacation/cruise, look elsewhere.

Pros: Freestyling

Cons: Some of the crew's demeaning attidude.

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Deserts, pastries and sauces paired with foods were very good. Breakfest was the same everyday. Lunch and dinner needed more varity. No lobster night as with all of our cruises.
A sense of cutting back.......
Poor lay out for buffet and few options. Long single lines...Also, again, similar menu for all meals. Very little variety. bottled salad dressing and only 3 other salad dressing types in salad bar. Very few options for salad bar, average 5 items.
Cabin / Stateroom
I had to clean the toilet upon arriaval as room stewarts were not present.
We selected a room that had a private meeting room above us. We had retired for the evening when a bartender/entertainer decided to practice bouncing bottles off the floor. I asked him to stop and he said have a nice cruise and went back to bouncing the bottles.
Not as many activities as other cruiselines.
Service and Staff
As stated above, the tone of this crew was very negative.
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Horse back riding not to be recommended for beginners. We have riding experience and was told no galloping or trotting. There was a lot of galloping. One gal got pierced in her leg from a improperly mounted sturup, etc. Horses not as well taken care of as in previous port, not as well trained.
Acapulco, Mexico
Very difficult to get to shopping areas. Locals including government taxi drivers trying to stear us to local market as tour guide. Made 3 attempts to get to Senor Frog's as recommended by cruise line and never made it. Ended having to shop in terminal. We had done kayaking excursion earlier that day, good experience (lagoon, and a great lunch at restaurant at lagoon)
Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa, Mexico

Don't Miss: Horse back riding along the beach. Very courteous staff and behaved horses.
Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
We did Kayaking and Scuba, rough waters limited enjoyment. Long swin to scuba site..Staff courteous.
