Review summary

Ships was nice. Entertainment was lacking. We saw all the shows and they were just average. Andrew Lloyd Webber's tribute had people singing the songs in evening clothes, no costumes to go with the songs. Food was good. I gues there was a outbreak of Norwalk virus the second day out. They kept it pretty quite but did tighten up the common areas like you couldn't touch the buffett spoons. This was good. The things we saw were great. Didn't get very close to the glacier as there was ice. This happens in mid-May.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Service in sit down places was excellent. Many happy faces and attentive to each guest. Didn't go to the pay restruants, we think that is a rip off. I noticed many were almost empty. I guess others share our opinion of you are already paying for the food why should we have to pay again. They could use the space for more cabins.

Entertainment

New more variety and more costumes. Just jumping around in tights without out much sceanry isn't what I consider a big production. I have been on smaller ships with better entertainment

This is such a little town really waste of time. Much rather gone to Victoria. I guess the town needs the money
Don't Miss: nothing there wasn't much to see.

Skagway, Alaska

Quite a cute town. Had the flavor of the original town. People were very nice. Went on a free walking tour put on by the park service. Again looked on the internet for informaiton on the city.
Don't Miss: Steam train ride. Beautiful and a relaxing ride up into the snow.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Don't Miss: totem pole park and carving demo

Juneau, Alaska

Very nice but didn't have much time. We arrived at 8:00 and had to be on board by 1:00. Felt we were shorted out on that town. We had read in the guide book to catch a bus to the glacier for $12.00 round trip instead of $43.00 that the cruise line charges for the same thing. It pays to search the web for other's opinions.
Don't Miss: Museum and glacier.

Pros: the wait staff was great in the Versalle room

Cons: at sea days

Recommends Norwegian Star? No.
