I thought the staff was super friendly and helpful. The ship was clean.

Here's the deal. The Norwegian Spirit is the oldest ship in the Norwegian fleet. I suspect they will be decommissioning it as soon as their next new ship is finished, and in the meantime they aren't bothering to fix this old girl up. It reeks of the late 1990's, it's literally falling apart in certain areas, and the constant rocking in the waves & winds gives Dramamine a run for it's money. The staff is generally very friendly, although 80% of them have a hard time speaking/understanding English. There is also a good degree of disorganization... which may be a result of the language barrier. Ask 5 people on the staff a question about anything and you'll get 5 different, conflicting answers. Even printed information is often conflicting (we almost missed a shore excursion because the tickets and the brochure both indicated conflicting start times, and the crew was totally useless, if you could find them at all. The "shows" onboard (singers, dancers, a magician, a stand-up comic, etc.) are pretty awful, but almost comically bad for those of you with sick, ironic senses of humor. I also pre-ordered flowers to be delivered to my wife on the first day of the cruise, but Norwegian claimed to never receive the order (although I had a receipt), and offered no means to fix the error after several days of going back and forth about it with their guest services staff. A huge disappointment on multiple levels, and a lot of cash tossed out to sea. All that said, we still managed to enjoy ourselves and find the silver-lining... but if you haven't already booked your trip with this company, you should seriously consider an alternative vacation.

This ship has seen better days. Cracked tiles and nasty grout in the cabin bathrooom (balcony room), to stained buffet room chairs and carpet peeling off the stairs. The staff was great for what they had to work with.

Service was poor, especially in main dining room. Food was mediocre except in restaurants.

The friendliness of staff and crew, the overall environment, the music and food, made this cruise optimally enjoyable.

The Spirit is a wonderful ship. It is sized appropriately and offers an elegant feel. The ship is clean and is enjoyable to sail. The pool area could be upgraded with a large screen television or LCD Monitor. Entertainment lacks compared to other cruise lines. Overall, this cruise is most likely best enjoyed by an older clientel, about 55 years of age and up.

Prior to boarding we were told that we would be able to watch both of the local NFL games (Saints) and would get the LSU/Arkansas. That ended up not being true, instead we only were able to see one of the three games.

Extra charges Staff comunication poor, different explanations from staff, General maintenance , clean but needs work, Cattle car--lines for everything, Long waits for elevators- especially to get to deck 4 when everyone is going to the higher decks for dining and bars

Despite being an older ship, it was sufficient for a nice cruise. The TV was old and had to be adjusted twice by a TV guy. Few channels were available. Food was OK, yet bland. If we had to wait in line, it moved quickly. The shows were good and we especially liked the 2nd City improv. It was often hard to find a quiet spot to have a drink. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Waiting in line to get a ticket for the tender to take us ashore was a waste of time, since they were collected at the stairwells, so you didn't really need them to board a tender (tenders were required twice - once for everyone and a second time only for those not on an NCL excursion).

help the rest of anyone else that takes that cruise

This is our second cruise and the second time on NCL. Love the ships and especially the free styling. Love the idea of going to dinner when you want to and being able to decide if you want to dress up or be very casual. We had an extra large oceanview stateroom for where it was located. Very clean and the staff was so willing to make you comfortable and get you whatever you wanted. Room service was great. Said when they would be at your room and they were there. The ship was big enough that you could have quite time in a lot of places without being bothered. Night shows were great. More than enough food everywhere you went. Was a great experience and I would recommend this ship to everyone. Can't wait for my next cruise.

The toilets would not flush on our floor!

If this was my first trip with NCL I would never get on one of their ships again. However I have been on many cruises before and have never had this experience. I understand the the weather did not permit us to go to Bermuda but I think we should have been taken somewhere where we could have enjoyed the seven days. Not just roaming around on the ocean for 5 days. The ship never gave us anything extra to make up for the cruise that we paid for and never received. We actually had to pay for a shuttle bus in Florida to get us to a mall. I think the ship should have picked that up. It Wasn't the cost it was the principle. And the short trips that were offered to us were over priced for the amount of time given us.

the ship is going into retierment

We picked this cruise because we didn't have to fly to get there. Have to say, it was a good decision. Staterooms are small, but expected that going in. Food was better than I imagined, but did not eat at the additional cost restaurants. Every staff member that we talked to was helpful, and cheery. I had hopes for more things to do during the days at sea and at night that did not involve more money, karaoke or drinking. We would have liked to spend more time in Bermuda, than a whole second day at sea. A fellow passenger had told us we already passed Nantucket almost a whole day before we were to dock back at Boston. Keeping us on the ship, spending money. We would do this cruise again, but maybe if it was offered for a 5 night instead.

I had a great fun and relaxation vacation.

We had an excellent time. The food, crew and entertainment was great. All the staff was very nice and helpful. All areas of the ship were very clean. Plenty of things to do or not do on the ship. The Rising Son snorkeling excursion was great. The crew on the excursion were very entertaining and helpful. We saw plenty of fish and coral.

The cabins were small and we had trouble with the electric outlets, which took two calls to straighten out. The food in the main dinning rooms was mediocre, which prompted us to try the some of the optional/additional cost dinning, Shogun and Cagney's, which were excellent. Some of the elevators were not working, which caused lines and waiting. However, the entertainment was EXCELLENT and the staff went above and beyond to be helpful and friendly. I liked the small size of the ship. I can't say enough about the staff!

For a ship that was about 12 years old it was in great shape. The crew while we were in port were always making repairs to upgrade the ship. Very nice decor and very clean.
