Review summary

This was inexpensive (at first) but constantly having to pay for things that most cruises include really added up. We had to buy a soda package or else pay $3 each! What? Drinks were expensive, $15 each, but the drinks package was an additional $1200. You could have a muffin and coffee for breakfast in your room, but if you wanted a proper breakfast in your room you had to pay for it. The food was hit and miss (steaks were like leather). All aboard for Nassau was 2:00 which meant after my excursion, I couldn't shop. It was a nice cruise, but I prefer an all inclusive cruise fee, like Silver Seas has.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Some food was delicious and some I wouldnt feed to my dog. It was very hit and miss.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
There was a casino that allowed smoking. The club next to it had lots of dance classes, but we left after 5 minutes because the cigarette smoke was unbearable!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was excellent. We went to all but the comedian. The acrobats were amazing!

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We liked the trivia games but sometimes the staff member barely spoke English.

Continuing from above... paid the $15 corkage fee and had the bottle at dinner. It was cheaper than buying 4 classes of wine. We thought the food in Le Bistro and Cagney's was excellent and the service was top notch. The cost of our cruise was far more reasonable than comparable cruises on other lines. I would definitely cruise with NCL again.

What drinks were you buying for $15? I was on the Spirit last May for a 12 day Mediterranean cruise. We had a great time. There was always a "drink of the day" for $5.50 and the Sangria was always $5.50. There were plenty of wine choices for under $10 and beer was "ballpark" price which is to expected. We saved money by buying inexpensive bottles of regional wines at locals we were visiting and

We waited until the drinks package was a 'bonus' as part of booking so didn't have to pay extra for it. Didn't eat in the room, but breakfast at Windows was always excellent. The only extra expenses were for special coffees at Café and the things we purchased on board. This was are second Norwegian cruise and we will stick with them for future cruises.

Silver Seas completely different price category. Have sailed Silver Sea and one of my fellow passengers said "it was not worth the extra money. Personally we enjoyed it, however almost almost double what we paid Norwegian. Great value for the money on Norwegian particularly when you purchase during a sale including drink package and ultimate dining package.
