Review summary

Longtime Carnival cruiser.  This was our 2nd cruise on NCL (Getaway in Dec 2014).  Really liked the layout of the ship.  Weather the first few days was not great and ship was rocking, but improved the last three days.

 

Shows were excellent.  We normally do not go to many shows.  Went to the Welcome Aboard Show and liked what we saw (mini-versions of each show).  Thought the Production shows were excellent as well as the Magician.  We need a better word than excellent to describe the aerialists!  Really enjoyed the afternoon Christmas show as well.

 

Thought the food in the buffet for breakfast was good, though the omelet makers could learn something from Carnival about eggs not sticking .  Food for lunch in the buffet was okay.  There were lots of choices, just not lots that I particularly was interested in (I never went hungry).  Ate all of our dinners in the Garden Room.  Had a great waitress, Johanna, for 5 of the 7 nights (2 - 6).  First and last night, we had a different waiter/waitress and service was not great.  As for the choices, once again lots of choices, but not my favorites.

 

Just my opinion, but I think the desserts on Carnival are better, but everyone's opinion is different.

 

Spent a lot of time in the casino (Craps table) and found the dealers to be very competent and friendly.

 

Did not get off the ship in Nassau (windy and rainy) and chose to not be tendered into St. Thomas (have been to both ports many times).  Loved our Zip Lining excursion in Tortola.

Debarkation was very easy.

 

Going back on the Spirit in late February.
