If you don't really want to see reality in the locations you visit, maybe cruising is for you. We didn't care for the crowds, we like to meet "real" locals, not the American version of locals. Waht you get in the ports does not represent the country very well. They are salesmen and women, no more, no less. The ship itself seemed dated. It was clean, but the decor seemed like it belonged back in the 80's. The majority of the time we had to repeat ouselves or the crew had to repeat themselves a few times to understand each other. Never will we cruise again. Not a bad experience, just boring and disappointing.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Don't waste your time at the buffet. B'fast was fair, lunch was pretty decent (The Blue Lagoon mostly), and dinner was amazing.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Unless you like shopping info, most everything else is adult-type humor/entertainment, a bit more vulger than we choose to view.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
There were a few good ones, mostly mediocre, and some who were worthless. Example: When we first got on board, we went to buy the pepsi card. The guy spoke almost no english, but he tried to take care of us. After about 5 minutes he referred us to someone else. I have no idea to whom he recommended us as I couldn't understand him. Then we went to get my wife a glass of water and the waitress refused to get it for her. On the other hand, once a crew member brought food to our room (not room service) so we wouldn't have to wait for it to take ourselves.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
We were on the bottom deck (4) without a window which made it nice for sleeping... which is what we did mostly on this trip.
All ports are American oriented. Do yourself a favor - get a taxi and tell them to take you to where the locals go. Things are much cheaper and less crowded.
