first time cruiser by lkmcasey

Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Had a great time no fault to the cruise but we did not go to private island due to water conditions. Stil had a great time for my first cruise. Food options were ok could've use a few more options but I still found something to enjoy throughout. Great that they opened up more activities foe unable to see private island. People and staff was great and the staff kept the ship clean! I felt safe. Loved the money card idea.

bahamas cruise by hectordiaz12345

cruise was nice, buffet food was horrible, specialty rest and main dining were exceptional, was a bit perturbed that the price of our cruise dropped to 109 plus fees and we paid more than that. Desiree was awesome and always there to attend to all my questions. She gets a 10

Good, but not as good as Carnival by acadiahiker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Good cruise. musicians ranged from fair (guitar-singer) to excellent (piano bar and four-man band) . Great Vegas revue show, with strong dancers and decent singers but no live orchestra. but I walked out of the staff talent show after it opened with pedestrian lip sync. Critique: needs channel guide for tv. sadly the sports channels consisted of two channels of 24-7 soccer! Blagh. No CNN. No ABC, CBS, or NBC. They need to post the current weather condition on the tv, as interior cabins have no idea how to dress for the day. The air conditioning in the outrigger lounge was so cold that even a winter coat could not make it comfortable. We called it the refrigerator. I saw many people shudder and walk out. When they turned it off for a dance party one night it got too hot. Ever hear of a THERMOSTAT! The worst part was when it was windy we could not go ashore at Stirrup Cay, unsafe to ferry us ashore on tenders, but since this wss the first ever cruiseline owned island they hsve had plenty of time to build a pier, like Carnival uses to go ashore on Half Moon Cay. A day at sea was a waste ssince we had planned our shore excursions for that day. The restaurants are good, but the best restaurants (3) cost extra. On Carnival we had lobster and filet mignon in the regular restaurant. On Norwegian it was Salmon and pork roast. Which would you prefer? The cruise directors are witty and run good games and activities, though Dazzles lounge has a stage they didn't use it so the audience cant see most of the fun stuff unless theyre in the front row. I wish there wss complimentary soda. I'm a diet coke addict and went without for the duration. Also it costs extra for internet, No cellcservice, no internet, poor tv...I felt isolated from my social network. The five hot tubs were popular, and nice to have an extra adults only pool. I was unhappy when a beautiful starry night, with warm breeze, we found all the deck chairs put awsy and tied up. I would have loved to stargaze from a lounge chair. Nope. Not one chair at midnight. Didn't have a big screen on the top deck like many cruise ships now. Didnt have a map of the Caribbean tracing the ship's course. I had a good time. We laughed and played and dined well. There were lots of happy people aboard. Lots of alcohol consumed. The boat wss meticulously cleaned. People wére nice. We took lots of pictures.

muy linda experiencia by sylvis43

Very good excursion that I had never experienced before. I also found it strange that they did not have a plan B for the day we could not land on Great Stirrup Cay due to weather (wind), it hurt to not plan to go somewhere else.

Service onboard was commendable and the abundant food was very good and there were plenty of options at any time.

The shows at night were very good.

The Ship Sky was very clean, the people was very personable and kind. The entertainment was alright, but there really wasn't anything for my children to do but, swim and eat.

Would not recommend by tmac1967

This was our first cruise with Norwegian.  We have done approximately 21 other cruises with Carnival and Royal Caribbean and wanted to see if Norwegian was any different/better.  We were very disappointed.  The service was just "OK" in the dining rooms.  We did not even get to go to Great Stirrup Cay.  The Captain canceled the trip stating the winds were too high causing "rough seas".  Again, we have been on several other cruises and the seas were no worse than others we have been on.  When the announcement was made there were actually a couple small boats around our ship that were not experiencing any problems.  We feel the decision was not only not warranted but was made too quickly.  Perhaps we could have waited a couple hours to see if the winds died down to what the Captain perceived as appropriate.

Great cruise for first timers. by andrewl25

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise and we had a blast. The shore excursion with the snorkeling was amazing in Freeport, the shopping in Nassau was unbeatable and the private island was beautiful. We didn't like that everything on the private island was so expensive. It's great if all you want to do is sit on the beach or swim.

Great ship with a good itinerary for the Bahamas by bratak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our second experience with NCL with the first one being way below our past experiences on other cruise lines.  I am happy to say that this cruise definitely made a positive impression on us.  The Sky is a smaller ship which is nice in that you don't do as much walking as you do on the bigger ones- which was great as we took my 83 year old mother-in-law,  The check in process was smooth and they had plenty of folks out there managing the crowd.  We had a balcony cabin which was small, but sufficed - small ship-small rooms.  The staff and crew were extremely personable.  They always spoke when you met in the hall - or even going to your dinner table - other waiters spoke to you.  We ate dinner in the Crossings dining room and the food was excellent.  Service was prompt and efficient.  We ate breakfast and lunch at the buffet which was generally crowded but it moved quickly. The biggest negative in the Garden Café were their sensored water and ice dispensers.  They were very hard to get to work and they usually had a staff member standing by to assist you.  The ice machine outside was the traditional type of machine and once we found it, kept getting our ice out there.  It was worth the extra steps to avoid the lines and frustration.  They had several other options for breakfast and lunch but we did not try them.  The entertainment was good.  Their Las Vegas review on the last night was excellent.  They had a staff talent show which was just OK.  It might have been better had we been in different seats, but we were under the balcony and it was so loud that is was almost unbearable.  Their entertainment was held in the Stardust Theater which is big and should accommodate everyone.  Unfortunately, they have "barrel-type" chairs as part of the furniture and they had them too close together which cause a lot of seats to remain vacant because no one to get to them.   We've been to the Bahamas several times, so Nassau and Freeport weren't real exciting for us.  If you've never been, they're nice ports to do some sightseeing and shopping.  Their private island was nice and had plenty of chairs spread out along many coves on the beach.  Unfortunately we were there on a rainy/overcast day so we weren't able to enjoy it like we would have like to.  All in all, a nice quick getaway.

Excellent would definitely recommend! by traci123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We cruised on 10/17/14 -10/20/14. The staff were all great and very helpful. The gift shop couldn't be opened until we were in International waters but my teen daughter needed some feminine products so a staff member went in and grabbed them for us and charged the cabin when able. Free style dining is the best way to dine. The only thing I didn't like was the long wait to get checked in and they had stopped doing the embarkation photos so we didn't get one but on board we were able to do it on the last night.

Nice First Cruise by lorenmichelle85

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This cruise offered a lot to do in a short amount of time. There were parties almost every evening. There were games every night. Karaoke. There was plenty to do for entire families. The staff was outstanding! Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. Everything was straightforward. My family and I had a great time. The only downside was the quality of the food was nit that great. My family and I are foodies and we were not very fond of the buffets or the Italian restaurant. There was a quantity of food, just not quality, but that is our opinion. Other than that, I would recommend. :)

NCL Bahamas by duomento

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Great people, clean, organized, lots of food to choose from even though I am a vegan and my wife is a picky eater, non-vegetarian. Did not like the Freeport experience, ugly port to just a shopping area.

Loved Nassau and especially Stirrup Cay which had no solicitations from locals. Will do it again maybe other islands......

good, but not great.... by macdon213

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Sky / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Good ports...Freeport and Nassau were very commercial, nothing with an exclusive feeling. The excursions offered were standard tourist activities. More should be offered to explore the natural beauty and history of the island, if it was offered we didnt notice due to the ongoing promotions to go to the commercial conglomerates such such as Atlantis. Stirrup Cay was a pleasent suprise! The island was exclusive fun and beautiful...not real commercial. The ferry to and from the island was awful! Had to wait over and hour just to get on the ferry, and then another 30-45 min for other passengers to get settled. The onboard entertainment was minimal. Unless u enjoy losing your money at cruiseship casinos or listening to cheesy bands...there was nothing else really going on. No comedy shows, no features....other than a vegas show that was more like a vegas parody that they showed every night. The nightclub crowd was ok, the dj was good, but the setup was awkward. It was blatantly a multipurpose room with a bar(of course), and a makeshift dance area, with no real nightclub feel at all. The crew was great, like most good cruiseship or hotel staff, they do there jobs and stay out the way. The buffet was quick an convenient, nothing spectacular, just a typical buffet. The dining rooms on the other hand looked better than the food tasted. The menus had all the fancy words and dishes with hardly any flavor. After waiting extensively for water, service and ultimately a disappointing dish...we often wished we would have just went to the buffet. To some it all up it, the cruiseship entertainment , food and ports weren't great, but for the price and the 3 ports u get in 5 days, you can make it as wonderful as your imagination and pocketbook will allow you too....which we did!!!

Great way to vacation by sandiking

Our 'gal' foursome takes an annual trip together.  Cruising was a first time experience for three of us.

We booked an owners suite & it was wonderful.  Great concierge, butler & steward.

I had cruised before so I knew that if we took this trip; the other three would be hooked!

We have already booked a 7 day cruise in an Owners Suite (no other way to go now) for next

year.
