Review summary

This is my third cruise ( the others were with Princess). Norwegian needs to step up it's food game. The food in the buffet and main dining room was bland, stale and uninspired. I've had better fish filet at McDonalds than the crusted Halibut I tried to eat in the main dining room. I realized that they are trying to get their passengers to upgrade to the specialty restaurants (which I felt was a scam). Why make me pay more for food I actually enjoyed?I've never experienced this on Princess. The open bar concept was enjoyable. Overall, I don't think I'll be booking with Norwegian in the future.

Buffet was sub par. Specialty (sushi) restaurant was great. Main dining was hit and miss. Mostly miss.

Norwegian advertises two separate pools which was one of the reasons I chose them. One adult, one family. This most definately was NOT the case. The adult pool was absolutely overun with small children. I tried to use the Jaccuzi only once because I got trampled and kicked by children doing cannon balls. No enforcement by the staff of separate pools.

I usually get a balcony and was concerned that I'd be claustrophobic in an inside cabin. Was not the case. Was comfortable.

Ship tip

Don't eat at the buffet or main dining rooms. Spend the extra money to go to the specialty restaurants.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

We did the glass bottom boat which was great. I wish we could have spent more time on that side of the island. It was clean and seemed to have decent restaurants, although we were wisked away with the bus before we could enjoy them. The side where the ship was docked was filthy and crowded. We couldn't even eat our meal after we saw how the shellfish was prepared (on a slimy picnic table in the heat). Fear of food poisening was real.
