Review summary

I'm glad we went on this cruise. Transatlantics are our favorite cruises, as we love lots of sea days. The cabin was great for our needs. The staff could not have been better. I doubt that we'll book the Prima again, however, unless she's the only ship doing an itinerary that we love.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth & speedy. I don't know how much of that was because we were in the Haven, but it couldn't have gone any better.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
There was plenty of food & choices, and the presentation was lovely, but aside from one dessert in a specialty restaurant, we found nothing extraordinary.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
As this was a transatlantic in September with questionable weather a lot of the time, outdoor activities were limited. There were plenty of indoor activities, although most of them required a reservation, even the talks by guest speakers. We loved the spa, BUT the jets in the therapy pool were not operational for this cruise, and that was a huge disappointment. No designated promenade deck, meaning joggers had to dodge outdoor diners & waitstaff.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We were disappointed. Reservations were required everywhere. The venues were so small that it was often standing room only. I wish the major shows would have repeated so more people could have the opportunity to see them. Also wish the major shows had more variety to appeal to more age groups.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was impeccable. There were at least 2 occasions when we saw senior officers, in uniform, sitting at "handicapped only" tables in the buffet area. One of those times, there were plenty of other places to sit. The other time, it was crowded, leaving a handicapped person with nowhere to sit.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
As a new ship, she was immaculate. But the design/layout was odd in some places. Even one of the butlers told us he kept getting lost finding HIS cabin!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The 2-bedroom Haven cabin is wonderful. BUT there was almost no countertop space in the bathroom for makeup or even a toothbrush. We had no vanity area either. It took 2-3 days to figure out the light switches. But the bedrooms/beds were very comfortable. Plenty of closet space & shower space. Loved the verandah.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

4 out of 5
We arrived in Southampton a day before embarkation. It's a lovely town.

Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland Did not visit port

Reykjavik, Iceland

5 out of 5
We did a private excursion and loved it. Can't wait to go back!

Halifax, Nova Scotia

We did an excursion through NCL & it was great. Would love to return to explore further.

New York, New York Did not visit port

went straight from ship to airport

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We were told that we would get priority disembarkation, as guests of the Haven. That didn't happen, even though we were escorted to the gangway. But we easily found our bags & had no problem getting a taxi & getting to LaGuardia in time for a 1pm flight.
