Review summary

We had a nice time. The ship is not new but still comfortable and enjoyable. The weather did not cooperate so that definitely was not ideal. Food was fair to excellent. Shows were fine. Bars were crowded and it took time to get drinks. Staff worked hard and most were very friendly. We did have a problem with toilets not working one day but by the time we returned after our outing everything was back to normal.

Embarkation

It took an hour to get from luggage drop off to Cagney’s for lunch. Longer than I expected. Very busy at 11:15. Organized but crowded.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We really enjoyed the specialty restaurants. Food in Cagney’s was good but service was off the night we were there. The 7 layer chocolate cake is wonderful. We did eat in main dining rooms. They were fine just very average. Service was overall very good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Typical Bingo, trivia, etc…

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We liked most of it. I did not like the adult comedy show. The Pearl singers and dancers were very good. They work very hard to entertain you . The 1969 tribute show was great.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Wonderful. Our butler, Ravi, was very helpful.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Some areas felt crowded particularly on rainy day when no-one was on outer decks. My suite bathroom was not as clean as I would have liked when I arrived but daily upkeep was fine.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Spacious enough. Comfortable. Quiet except for neighbours slamming doors.

Ship tip

Bar Harbor very nice but customs and immigation takes time. If you book an excursion with NCL you get off tbe ship easier and sooner than those just getting off to explore independently.

Ports of call

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
We booked “An Intimate Look at Acadia National Park” through NCL. It was 2 1/2 hours. Very well done. We toured the park in a 14 seat van. Very comfortable and informative tour.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5
Would have been better if it hadn’t pored rain one of the days we were there.

Boston, Massachusetts

4 out of 5
Stayed at Hyatt Place in Seaport the night before and walked to cruise port in the morning.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy and quick with help of concierge.
