Review summary

I have cruised many times on different ships. This is not my first time on ncl either. The quality of food and service have charged for the worst. I believe that taking the tips out automatic was a mistake I believe tipping according to service and I have tipped over and above in the past. The main dinning room service was slow.We had a standing reservation every night at the same time. The average dinner time was an hour and a half sometimes longer  which ment we missed the first show. Food quality was not good. I think they are pushing speciality dinning package. That was superb! Bands never started on time. The cream on the cake was I think the ship had noro virus  17 of 22 got off the ship extremely ill.

If you want fast food go to McDonald's. The food on gem is delicious. And the staff is amazing. As for the norovirus, the trip was full of kids off from school on spring break. The flu season was considered widespread at the time in NY. Wash your hands often and try not to touch common surfaces and then your face. Only use public restrooms when necessary. That should minimize risk considerably. But you only need a few people who are not good at washing hands to take out a bunch of people or people who were feeling ill but didn't want to cancel trip.

The dining room is for dining! Think about when you go out for dinner, no at Denny's but at a fine restaurant. You can easily take a good hour to hour and a half. You visit with your table mates or friends. If you want to go to the entertainment, plan accordingly and eat else where. If she means that 1700 of 2200 people had noro, I highly doubt it or the CDC would having something to say.
