Fantastic cruise to Alaska!

Sail Date: May 08, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

We sailed to Alaska on Norwegian's Pearl. Wonderful crew and sailing experience. The ship was luxurious, especially loved one of the main dining rooms, The Summer Palace.

Pros: The freestyle dining.

Cons: The smoky casino

Recommends Norwegian Pearl? Yes!

Ship Quality
The size was perfect, not too big, but not too small. The public areas were clean and the decor was very nice.
Food and Dining
We loved the freestyle dining and ate in one of the two main dining rooms except for two meals. The Summer Palace was opulent and the attention of the wait staff was more than what we expected.
Cabin / Stateroom
The size was adequate, enough for two people, plus we had a balcony that made the trip even more special. Too bad they don't have non-smoking rooms. The smell is hard to get out of the rooms.
Service and Staff
We were treated great by all staff that we met. Our stateroom stewards were awesome.
We had several choices for all types of entertainment and we loved the quality of the entertainers!
Prince Rupert, British Columbia
Not a lot to do that wasn't expensive. The shopping was so so. Would not have minded if we had missed this port.
Skagway, Alaska
The train ride was spectacular! The experience was top notch!
Don't Miss: The train ride.
Ketchikan, Alaska
We took the Bering Sea fisherman's tour. It was good, but a little cheesy. We were expecting more. We wish we had gone to the Lumberjack show.
Don't Miss: The Lumberjack show was apparently top notch.
Juneau, Alaska
We went to the Mendanhall Glacier and it was spectacular! The waterfall is worth the walk back towards the glacier.
Don't Miss: Mendanhall Glacier
