The NCL Pearl is modern, clean and has a Caribbean feel. Even though our ship was sold out, we never felt in a crowded area, never waited long for dinner or pool chairs. The ship does not have a grand central atrium like many others, but we liked that layout as it made for more intimate spaces and better use of overall ship space. There is a space for everyone's tastes on this ship!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Freestyle dining was never a problem. The ship posts wait times for all restaurants on monitors to help you decide where and when to eat. The main dining rooms were so excellent (best of 4 cruises we have been on), that we never even ate at the specialty restaurants.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Best of all of my 4 cruises. I see a lot of Broadway shows and their Broadway style show and performers were excellent! Very talented and not cheesy like other ships. Second City and other performers equally as good! Great variety as well.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
My 4 year old looked forward to going to the Kids Club each evening and came back with a smile and excitement each time. Great activities, safe environment, and the kids had fun! Biggest downside is that they really dont have any kids activities for kids under 2. They dont even allow kids under 2 in the kids club with parents, which we were hoping for.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Despite the freestyle philosophy, which we thought would lend itself to worse service, we had great service. Bar service was a bit slow and hard to get drinks in a timely fashion, but otherwise all other service was excellent and prompt.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Sometimes it was a slight challenge to get from one area to the other on the ship, but this was a minor inconvenience for all the great spaces they had. The ship was spic and span and always maintained well.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Very clean and comfortable. Room for everything. Inside stateroom did not feel claustrophobic. Good use of space.
Leave yourself plenty of time to get to the beach-took 1.5 hours to get onto a tender just to sit on their private island. Other than relaxing on the beach, which was great, not much else to do here. Food was BBQ only and drinks were limited.
It rained, so the boat trip for the Caves and Mangroves excursion was a bit long, wet and turbulent. Would rather have gone into town and explored local culture than do this excursion again. It was not bad, but not that interesting either.
