Review summary

My overall impression of the Majesty was very good/excellent. We generally cruise on NCL, as we love the "Freestyle Cruising". The ship's crew is wonderful, as they usually are on most cruises, and we weren't disappointed. The food was excellent, although there aren't as many "gourmet" choices as in the past on other Norwegian ships we've traveled on (i.e., Beef Wellington, etc.) but it was still very good. The ship had everything you needed/wanted, but needs some refurbishing. It's starting to show its age, especially the carpeting. The ports were wonderful, although the national holiday schedules should be checked before planning itineraries, as 3 of our ports were celebrating holidays so the shops were closed. That was a disappointment. Otherwise, the weather was great, the people were friendly, and we had a great time! We had never taken a repositioning cruise before, but would definitely do it again and we will definitely be back on NCL!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very good food and lots of it! Many choices so you never go hungry! Although they do offer hard-serve ice cream in the afternoon,. I keep hoping NCL will put soft-serve ice cream machines on their fleet for passengers to help themselves to anytime they want!

Always there to help! Can't say enough about the crew.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Clean but needs decor to be updated. A little out of date. We enjoyed the size of the ship. On other bigger ships, you don't tend to run into the same people, but we saw many of the same faces every day, which was nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The Majesty is an older ship so we didn't expect it to be like the newer ships. We have cruised many times before on NCL so we've had a range of room sizes. This ship definitely had small rooms, too small for 3 adults to share. The cabin steward/stewardess kept it clean and tidy but storage was at a premium for us. We improvised and it worked out okay, but we definitely need a larger room. For the time we spent in the room, the TV choices were good, the movie choices were very good, and we made the best of it.

Ports of call

Deshaies, Guadeloupe

5 out of 5
This port was St. Kitts, not Guadeloupe. It was fabulous. This island is a beautiful island, one of the nicest i've been to so far, with lots to see. We took the Plantation Tour and had a wonderful time and learned much from Greg from Greg's Safari's. Took us to sugar cane plantations and introduced us to local foods/snacks. The scenery is gorgeous.
Don't Miss: Greg's Safari's - couldn't have been more interesting. Greg was very informative.

Willemstad, Curacao

Didn't have a lot of time there, as we were delayed being cleared from Customs and yet again, a national holiday so the shops were closed. Our last port was Nassau, which is not on the review, and we had a wonderful time there. I had never been to Nassau and was extremely pleased. It was a short day in Nassau and we wished it was longer.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Love Barbados - people are very friendly, water is gorgeous, tours are fun. This was my 2nd stop in Barbados and I'd go again. Unfortunately, it was a national holiday so the shops were closed. We went to Brighton beach and it was lovely and only 5 minutes taxi ride from the port.
Don't Miss: Harrison's Caves was fabulous.

Excellent shopping - this is where the deals are folks! Snorkeling is good here.

Oranjestad, Aruba

Went on a tour that was fun but again there was a national holiday so the shops were closed at 2:00 p.m. Not much else to do in town but go to the beach or the casinos.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Have been to Puerto Rico on 5 other cruises and it's always fun just to walk around and shop in Old San Juan.

Pros: Being in the sunshine of the Caribbean

Cons: The two days of rain!
