Review summary

Terrific cruise, top-notch staff, beautiful ports and excursions.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Considering there was the extra step of having to do the PCR test before boarding, this was incredibly smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed Cagney’s and the Ocean Blue specialty restaurants. But the main dining rooms for also exceptional, especially in their service and handling food allergies. If you have special dietary needs, I recommend pre-ordering the day before and they accommodate your needs easily.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used the fitness center and mini golf course. They also had waterslides, go carts, laser tag, and VR games but we didn’t do any of these.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw outdoor movies on the pool deck, shows in the theater, games and cooking presentations in the atrium, and even did a whiskey tasting in the whiskey bar. We enjoyed absolutely everything. The entertainment in the theater was high-quality. We particularly enjoyed the Beatles cover band who played subsequent nights in the smaller Cavern Club venue. They also did Footloose the musical. The game shows were entertaining as were the trivia get togethers. They also had a juggler/comedian and other comedians, and live music throughout the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was probably the best crew that we have ever sailed with for the most part. Our cabin Stewart was fantastic. The dining room staff was attentive to my unique dietary needs. The cruise director was not the typical cruise directors that we’ve had before on Norwegian, but he was competent but a little boring. His staff was fantastic though.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This is probably my favorite ship I’ve ever cruised on. The layout was great, everything was well-maintained, they kept the common areas very clean, there were hand sanitation stations everywhere, and they even made you wash your hands before diving at the buffet.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were very comfortable in this cabin and had plenty of storage space. Our cabin Stewart kept the place immaculate, often servicing our cabin more than twice a day.

Ship tip

I definitely recommend the balcony cabins. Midship was very comfortable and being on the Portside offered you great opportunities for taking photos.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
We found this really easy for a disembarkation port. The parking garage was attached to specifically Norwegians’s terminals so it made it very easy. Great views of Miami as you sail away if you are up on the pool deck or higher.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
This is a cute little port and a beautiful island. We visited a chocolate factory and an artisan rum factory plus drove around the island.

Harvest Caye, Belize

5 out of 5
This is Norwegian‘s private island, and it is really fantastic. We did not bother to get an excursion over to mainland Belize and we had a fantastic time. My husband enjoyed their zip line, I enjoyed swimming at the beach. They have a great pool area. I also enjoyed the butterfly house and the little wildlife walk. They had lots of local vendors that were not high pressure. They also have a chocolate factory. The man at the duty-free shop is awesome. He styled himself as a pharmacist writing us prescriptions for our liquor acquisitions.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
This is a fairly new port. We took an excursion to Chacchoben. It was really fantastic. We used a company called Roatan trips and tours. Our guide Joel was really fantastic. After visiting the ruins, they took us to the Seven Color Lagoon and provided us with a delicious taco lunch. They even had an open bar at the little lagoon side Eco resort. This was probably my favorite stop and tour of my entire trip. We felt like VIPs the entire time. This was an excursion that we booked through United cruises and we were very happy.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did not spend a lot of time in Cozumel except to go to a tequila and Mezcal tasting store, but instead had to ferry over to Playa Del Carmen and then left on a private tour over to the Tulum ruins that was organized by United cruises through a company called Tulum express. Our guide Gabriel was terrific in getting us to our location, and then he handed us off to a local guide who actually spoke Mayan and was super knowledgeable. The guys name was Florian and we really got an excellent overview of the culture and the civilization at Tulum.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was super easy. From when they called our group to disembark, to getting our suitcases and getting to our car was only 15 to 20 minutes total!
