Review summary
Coming from the new Houston Bayport Port we were a little skeptical on how this would work, but the port terminal was only 30 minutes and 32 miles from downtown Houston. Not bad. The cruise however was outstanding because they had the best activity director (Jamie) we have seen on 9 cruises. There was something for all age groups to do all day. The water slides for the kids, the dancing for the adults, and some of the best shows we've seen. If you like piano bars, here you go; Lisa York can play and sing until you get ready to retire for the night. Have you ever seen a pool band play for 1 1/2 hour without a break. Slick. We also had some concerns about the 'specialty restaurants' taking over the food quality in the 'included' meals. This was the first cruise we've been on where they didn't sacrifice the food quality in the normal restaurants. If you should go on a NCL Jewel cruise, you will never forget the laughs you get when you see 'Washie-Washie at the entrance of the buffet line. Hysterical. As far as service goes, we never felt like we were ever slighted. NCL ROCKS..

I like a cruise where you are not pounced on to take your photo. The photographer on the Amsterdam was very laid back. If you want the photo she is there if not, no problem. I hope that Birdie is on our next Amsterdam cruise. We purchased all of our candid shots because of her attitude.
