Coming from the new Houston Bayport Port we were a little skeptical on how this would work, but the port terminal was only 30 minutes and 32 miles from downtown Houston. Not bad. The cruise however was outstanding because they had the best activity director (Jamie) we have seen on 9 cruises. There was something for all age groups to do all day. The water slides for the kids, the dancing for the adults, and some of the best shows we've seen. If you like piano bars, here you go; Lisa York can play and sing until you get ready to retire for the night. Have you ever seen a pool band play for 1 1/2 hour without a break. Slick. We also had some concerns about the 'specialty restaurants' taking over the food quality in the 'included' meals. This was the first cruise we've been on where they didn't sacrifice the food quality in the normal restaurants. If you should go on a NCL Jewel cruise, you will never forget the laughs you get when you see 'Washie-Washie at the entrance of the buffet line. Hysterical.  As far as service goes, we never felt like we were ever slighted. NCL ROCKS..

Ship Tip

You will like the fact the Jewel staff doesn't hound you for pictures like other cruise lines.

A no brainer for a Houstonian with the port in your back yard. No air fare costs.

The town is full of themselves and you have to ferry in from 5 miles out.

Roatan has some beautiful, friendly people. Take a island tour in a private car and get a true feel of the island. The souvenirs when you get away from the cruise line owned shops is at least 1/2 price.
