It's a cruise, how bad can it be?

Sail Date: November 15, 2014

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The room steward was sub-par. We walked in on Embarkation day to a used wet wash cloth in the shower and an empty toilet paper roll on the floor. For 2 days after that we didn't get our trash emptied. Never any ice in the room. We went to guest services to make them aware and after apologizing they sent a bottle of wine and a plate of confections to the room free of charge. Great!~ Except the plate of confections was stale and hard as a rock. It seems the plate was sitting in the back of the fridge expired and they needed to be thrown away.

We were rained out in Belize (our snorkeling excursion was canceled by the cruise line) and in Honduras. Come to find out from the locals, we visited in "monsoon" season (their words). Apparently the kids are even out of school from early November to late January because of it.

It's my suggestion that you stay out of Belize and Hondouras in Nov-Jan to avoid all the water.

Ship Quality
The Jewel is a beautiful ship
Food and Dining
I wasn't overly impressed with the food. It was just like Carnival's food.
Service and Staff
Our room steward was awful but the rest of the staff were great!
Loved the shows and the comedians.
Onboard Activities
There was always something to do onboard.
Destinations and Excursions
Would've been better with out all the rain.
Cabin / Stateroom
These are small cabins. If you notice at the foot of the bed, 2 people cannot fit. And since the bathroom is at the front of the cabin, one has to lay on the bed to let the the other by or back out to the oposite end.
I did like the size of the shower.
Houston, Texas
Didn't see much of Houston, just the terminal.
Cozumel, Mexico
Love that this cruise line (NCL) is at the other end of the island than Carnival. Got to see more.
Belize City, Belize
Got rained out...didn't tender into Belize
Trujillo, Honduras
This is a new port. It is not developed. The rain was abundant and that made the water fierce when we tendered in. Very bad experience.

Do not sail from early November to late January.
