on October 26, 2024 I was on a Norwegian Getaway cruise When I purchased what I thought was an authentic brand new Gucci bag. At the time, my phone wasn’t working, so I asked the sales manager if the bag was real, and if the price listed was the honest retail price to which he answered yes. There was no tag on the bag and all they had was a printed list of prices on a piece of paper that they don’t allow you to see. I was told retail price for the bag was $2200 and I was given a “discount” which brought the price $1800. My phone was still not working, but something felt a little bit off. I got off the boat on October 27, 2024, tried to scan the QR code located on the black tag inside the bag and nothing pulled up, so I went to the Gucci app to check if the bag was real using their Tag System for Authenticity, again nothing about the bag pulled up. I got home on the morning of October 28, 2024, I went into the bag and pulled out the certificate of authenticity tag the sales girl stuck in the pocket before I could see (because it wasn’t an actual Gucci QR code) come to find out the bag was a used bag and none of the serial numbers match my bag. In conclusion, Norwegian cruise line sold me a fake bag for $600 more than what the real (brand new) bags retail for, I will never use this company again, they are thieves.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
it was OK smooth but not a very friendly staff.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
The food was disgusting. The only thing that was edible were the french fries and the salad and the chips.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
onboard activities were boring
Tradewinds Tax & Duty-Free
1 out of 5
terrible they sell, knock off encounter fit, luxury, handbags, and Norwegian won’t do anything about it.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The entertainment sucked. The comedians weren’t funny and there was only one band that sounded good and that was The New Generation, they are the only reason I gave stars.
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
The front desk staff and the wait staff are uninformed and extremely rude my steward. Rosie was amazing and the sweetest thing ever.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
I feel like space could’ve been better utilized the ship for the most part was clean except for the public bathrooms, which were disgusting.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin was small, but I was a solo traveler so it was fine for just me. I couldn’t imagine two of us being in there and my steward Rosie the room very clean except I do feel like there was mold on the sheets, the first two nights.
Ship tip
I don’t recommend you purchasing any jewelry perfumes watches or luxury handbags as I purchased a Gucci bag only to find out it was a knock off.
it sucked. You were basically trapped in this circle that was not especially clean and had a bunch of overprice shops with sales people pretty much yelling at you the whole way around the circle. There was no beach access in the only way to get off of that dirty piece of the island was to do an excursion and no one told us that ahead of time.
this was just an extension of the boat terrible food over priced shopping and the beach looked more like a dirty river. You were also not able to see a lot of the island unless you were on an excursion. Otherwise the area was very boring and it didn’t feel like we were in Belize at all.
Roatan was the first port we actually got to “visit”, it had locals, really good food and we were able to purchase excursions off of the ship which allows the locals to make money and not just Norwegian.
Sidenote: If you’re in Roatan, try to find Ronal, he is the absolute best tour guide!! I was solo and felt very comfortable and safe with him. His IG is roatan_with_ronal.
they just heard you like cows off the ship most of the time when you’re getting off they’ll have the band playing or some type of music but no, they just heard you off.
I know you’ve learned this lesson at this point, but I would never buy a bag worth that much money before making sure with absolute certainty that it was authentic. Not on a cruise ship, in a store on land, etc. There are tale tell signs on fakes that give them away. If you think you’re going to shop for designer handbags in the future, do the research before to know what those signs are before going on a cruise.
I wouldn’t blame the NCL worker who sold it to you. It is extremely unlikely that person would know if it’s a fake or not. This is more on the employees who check the bags when they are received from the supplier before being loaded onto the ships. The supplier is the one who likely tricked NCL. Of course, it’s an issue that needs to be addressed and you should contact NCL with your story.
