We booked this cruise to see if we were going to be NCL or RCL cruisers and after this experience I’m sticking with RCL.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
The rooms weren’t ready- none of them! They crammed all of us into 0’Sheehans or the Garden Cafe. Totally unprepared for having EVERYONE in the dining areas. It was complete chaos. We were not kept up to date as to when our stateroom would be ready. People were sitting on the floors with their kids as they had no place to go. People were sitting on the pool deck in January in New York- pretty cold. Disastrous in my opinion and this was my welcome to NCL.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was very good, nice selection and the buffet was always well stocked. The portions in the restaurants seemed a bit small but with today’s food cost that is understandable.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
We decided to purchase the The Thermal Spa package and asked several times how many packages were sold as we wanted to know to help make the right decision. We never got a straight answer. In my opinion the space was oversold and it was hard and sometimes impossible to find a chair. The staff was inattentive and did not keep track of empty chairs or pick up used towels and robes. They even ran out of cups one day for water. Overall not a pleasant, spa like atmosphere and absolutely not worth the cost. As I told my wife it wasn’t the cost it was the experience and that wasn’t good.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was great but longer hours at the box office would be helpful.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
I’d give them 5 Stars except for the spa staff.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
I wasn’t to keen on the atrium and shop layout but everything else was easy to find and get to.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was great, liked the double sink. Loved the larger bathroom. The room could use a deep clean but nothing that was bothersome.
Ship tip
Don’t purchase the Thermal Spa package unless you are also purchasing treatments which we did not. It was always crowded and not well serviced.
You must be a new cruiser, cabins are seldom ready upon embarkation. Not a great fan of Norwegian, but I don’t think you gave a fair comparison with a short cruise in the winter
Cruising out of NY to Bermuda in January who would have thought it would be cold. 5 days in the Atlantic Ocean also going be cold, especially on a ship that is designed for warm weather cruises. Doesn't seem to be a fair comparison
Thanks for the review. Regarding the spa package, I agree that I would not purchase it, but only because of this particular cruise. It's a larger ship, only 5 nights, only one port, and travels several sea days from NYC, which is cold.
