Review summary

This was a very enjoyable cruise. There were issues with Storm Agnes hitting Ireland and making us miss those ports, and there was definitely a lot of flu and/or Covid spreading on the ship. No matter - we had a great time and would do it again. Be prepared, protect yourself, and there's no reason why anyone can't enjoy a great cruise like this.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation in Southampton was a level above our previous experiences; definitely more in line with our expecations as a Haven guest.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We didn't visit any specialty restaurants this time. The buffet on Getaway was a disappointment, not matching our previous experiences on NCL.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
It's not fair to rate onboard activities given the weather we experienced on this cruise..

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The headline shows Burn the Floor and Million Dollar Quartet were very good. The rest of the shows really didn't appeal to us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on Getaway was friendly and helpful; they made this a very enjoyable cruise.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Getaway is a Breakaway Class ship; it's fine, but we prefer the layout on the Breakaway Plus class ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
15124 is not aft-facing; it's a "2-Bedroom Family Villa with Balcony". It's a fine choice for 3+ guests who need some privacy. Other ships offer a larger balcony for this type of stateroom - there is barely room for 3 chairs on the small balcony.

Ship tip

A tip for any cruise right now - bring masks and pack everything you would need to deal with a cold, flu, or Covid. We didn't get sick, but lots and lots of people did. It's the reality of cruise travel at the moment.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Disembarkation was very disorganized. NCL needs to improve their baggage recovery arrangement, as the free-for-all looking for luggage is simply ridiculous.
