This was a good trip, but Grand Cayman almost ruined the whole thing for us.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Fast and easy. The reserved embark time made things very easy
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The buffet was a bit bland and had the same foods everyday by in large with some always being cold. The specialty restaurants were amazing though and the main dinging halls were very good.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There were many things to chose from, which was good; even though many did not excite me in particular.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
There was a good blend of entertainment with Cirque Dreams and Steam being the highlight. Unfortunately; many of the main acts were for an additional fee. The comedy acts and cover bands were good, but not great
Children's Programs
No children on trip
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The staff was always friendly and nice. There was a bit of chaos leaving the ship the first couple of ports, but that got sorted out and there were times the staff was a little slow to react, but when they did the issue was resolved and they were always smiling and friendly.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The odd thing on this ship was that we could feel the engine vibrations from anywhere on the ship. Normally I do not notice that, but it was hard not to notice on this one. Otherwise the ship was great.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The room seemed a bit bigger than other balcony rooms I have stayed in in the past. It was a nice room. Be advise though that the TV in the room was an extra fee to watch anything other than the Ship's information and port information channels.
Ship tip
Be ready to pay for extras if you don't pre-pay for the packages. If you try to go on the cheap, you can, but you can add costs easily and quickly
We had a terrible experience getting off the ship (tenders) and then the tour operator for the discover cayman trip was wreckless and ended up injuring my mother due to very bad driving. A formal complaint was filed with the ship, and the ship did handle it well tour operator and with a refund of the excursion.
Just curious, how much more was it for the television viewing to watch “normal” TV? I haven’t cruised with NCL in a couple of years and don’t remember them charging for the TV. Thanks.
