Another great cruise. We've cruised with four different cruise lines and there things we like about each of them. I would say our favorite part of NCL's Epic and Getaway is the freestyle dining and all the dining options, even without trying their specialty dining venues.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze! We were on board by 11:30 and having lunch in the main dining room. We had previously cruised from NOLA on Carnival and it was not as smooth an embarkation as NCL.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We prefer to dine early and the freestyle dining worked very well for us. We tried all the complimentary restaurants and enjoyed all of them except the noodle bar was a bit of a disappointment. We had eaten at the one on the Epic and it was much larger with a better selection on the menu. The service was a bit slow one night in the main dining room but we still had time to complete the meal and make the shows. The LUNCH menu in the main dining room stays the same, I would prefer it to change daily, since we prefer full service over buffet any time. The fajitas in O'Sheehans were delicious.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the games organized by the cruise director's staff. Charades and Win, Lose, or Draw were our favorites.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We enjoyed the comedians, Flip Schultz and Aaron were both funny, however, the opening act for the headliners should get some new material.
Card Room
3 out of 5
Card room/library was very small with limited availability for check out of books.
Children's Programs
No children on this trip.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our cabin was cleaned twice a day. On some other recent cruises, cleaning had been cut to once a day.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is well designed (better than the Epic) and very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The closet was a little hard to access and the balcony is small but otherwise it was comfortable, clean and modern. Really liked the bathroom and shower as it seemed a bit larger than on other ships.
Ship tip
Even if you can't get reservations you can still attend the complimentary shows. We never had a problem. just showing up for the
