Review summary

Western Caribbean is not my favorite itinerary, but due to the hurricanes last year, we were switched from Eastern to Western Caribbean. I find at the ports, minus in Belize, (NCL Island) the locals are very aggressive in trying to get your business or sell you something. We found during this trip, a no thank you was simply not enough. We had to be almost rude/aggressive in our "no's" after multiple times. Despite that, we really enjoyed the trip. The ship is fantastic and the crew is amazing, so very hard working!

I've found that in any tourist area, it's best to ignore the pushy ones. A "No" to them is an opportunity to change it to a "yes". But if you ignore them completely they move onto the next potential customer. Though I had an issue with a man and his aloe in St. Kitts. But that's a story for another post.

Some countries are more aggressive than others. In Haitti a man blocked the opening to get me to buy before leaving. My tone rose, eyed him face to face and said, I said no thank you". He backed away like he had just seen a ghost. It was a laugh later. I don't mind the aggressiceness to sale, because I understand their economy, just don't try to bully me. LOL.
