Review summary

NCL is not a favorite cruise line in general. Much prefer Princess or Celebrity, and would never go on such a large ship again.

Embarkation

Due to a "crew man overboard" the previous day, we were kept waiting for hours in the hot terminal. They were rather disorganized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
While we were fortunate to have the all inctdrubk package as a perk, the food in the main dining rooms was just mediocre. Teppanyaki was lots of fun, though.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pool was way too small to accommodate the amount of people. Never any lounge chairs available. Always long lines for the water slides. One broke down and they didn't seem to be able to get it back functioning.

Just too crowded.

Ship tip

Pick a smaller ship! 4000 people is way too large.

Beautiful port- loved the Jolly Roger snorkeling.

Harvest Caye, Belize

The beach was lovely, though we had rainy weather and had to return to the ship. Definitely rent a clamshell for sun protection.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Cozumel, Mexico

Enjoyed the semi sub, and also the shops and restaurants at the port.

Ive been on Carnival, NCL, and RCL.. and NCL is my least favorite by far! Was on the Getaway for 14 day Transatlantic cruise and only 3 ports so I got a lot of time to experience the Getaway and NCL as a cruiseline. Im not a fan... they seem to try and "upsell" and nickle & dime you at every turn. Every event was a sales attempt, and the enture ship seemed to be designed to focus you towards more sales. Even the main pool area had this weird area between the bars for them to hold sales events vs more lounge chairs! This ship had the least amount of open deck space... half as much as Carnival ships with 2/3 as many passengers!! With all the choke points, the ship always felt crowded. NCL has great deals with free drinks packages, but trying to get people drunk so they don't notice the upsell attempt is not for me. Ill stick with Carnival and RCL. After cruising on the RCL Oasis class ships, it will be very hard for any other ship to compete!! Oasis class ships never feel crowded, 3x as much open deck space than any other class of ship... plenty of open loungers, always open space in one of the many pools, always hot tub space, TONS to do!! If you look at my profile, you can see I have 3 more cruises planned on Oasis class ships... lol.

Have another one booked and planning a third, just to make sure.

Good to know. We cruised once with Princess cruise and had a great time. More seasoned passengers 😁
