Review summary

Enjoyed the ship, food and crew. Need to change how they hand out Vibe passes. Great western Caribbean cruise. Would recommend "Getaway" for next cruise.

Embarkation

Arrived early to be within first 50 to line up for the Vibe passes. Terminal process was quick and efficient. This is where the "good" rating comes from. Once they called group one it became a free for all. Boarding on deck 7, people were running down to deck 6 to guest services. Having read that the line for vibe was to the far right we were surprised when a staff member simply came out and asked who wanted Vibe. He was mobbed! No rhyme or reason to hand out the cards. Pushing, shoving, grabbing and general chaos for some 20 odd seconds. Many people who were not tall enough (or rude enough) to push around this guy and grab were out of luck. People who didn't get enough for their group. A general s*it show. Why do they not pre-book on line - first come first serve like most other things OR have a damn process at customer service. It brought out the worst in (otherwise polite i'm sure) people. As long as it stays this way, park your manners in the terminal, run like heck and clutch, grab and hold if you really want the vibe. Norwegian really needs to change this.

Main dining rooms were great! Tropicana always had some live music / performance going. Staff all around very personable and accommodating. Buffet had a surprising number of choices! something for everyone.

Onboard Activities

Ropes course is a MUST! Fun fact - you are 160' above the water. Walk the plank and take in some of the views from the other staging areas. There is literally nothing between you and the ocean at several points.

Entertainment

The million dollar quartet was amazing. A great story line and very well performed. BRAVO!

Service and Staff

These people work incredible hard! Always acknowledging you and can't do enough to help out. If something was amiss, they always took the time to make it right. Please be patient with them. There will always be a dirty glass or piece of cutlery somewhere at sometime. No different than home!!

Ship Quality

A beautiful ship. Very clean. Design is a little broken compared to others but after a few days you will know which decks to use to get yourself from aft to forward.

Cabin / Stateroom

A little less space (both physical and storage) than some Holland and Carnival. Still a great value for your dollar.

Ship tip

Lots to do but do the ropes course!! You will not be disappointed.

Harvest Caye, Belize

Last cruise we tendered into Belize City and it was wonderful. The private island is nice but the "sand" at the beach is as it reads - coarse with broken shells. Not inviting for the feet. They could use some of the sand from Half Moon Caye! Tough to pay for food and drinks when the ship is right there. Unfortunately it's tougher to get off of this island to go anywhere else. Not a favorite for sure but maybe will become a good "back on the ship" day.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Can into Mahahual, walk the beach strip, grab some food at an off the track restaurant. Makes for an enjoyable day! Several places with $2 beers where you can just sit and relax. Yes, people want you to buy stuff. A polite no thanks moves them along.

Was a travel advisory for the ferry bombs which was unfortunate. City felt safe otherwise. Again, you feel a bit like a "french fry" surrounded by some "seagulls" but the area is built on tourist dollars. Check your prices!!! You will find many of the same items vary greatly between shops. Don't rush into buying anything. Walk to the downtown is very reasonable with may places to grab something cold / hot along the way.

Disembarkation

We carried our bags off and it was as smooth as could be. Started off the ship at 7:45 am and were through customs just after 8:00.

How are they handing out the vibe passes now? On the Escape, they were first come first serve

I just got off the Getaway yesterday, I personally do not think it is worth it. We hung out on the 16th deck forward and loved every minute of it just outside where it was. There is restrooms, shower and the bar right there, no problem!
